WTF Did anybody notice that the female skater featured in this video, Miwa Fukuhara, performed a 3Lz every bit as good as any I have ever seen. This was in freakin' 1964.
Hate to burst your bubble but it was only a double![]()

^ I don't mind in this case because the footage quality is bad, but, if that was a double, it was huge with some very good technique.

This one is probably a year earlier.Irina just turned 15 and Vasilii 16 apparently they had same birthday date. Tarasova was explaining why she was so harsh on them and how they are still kids who need to understand that in order to become a champion is important to repeat( again and again )jumps ,elements, lifts and etc. even though you are tired or upset.

How voidy! Yes, I know that phrase gets thrown around a lot on FSU, especially by moi, but really I don't think any other word suffice.
A million thanks again for this thread, it is wonderful to see a mixture of early & obscure performances from favorite skaters, and be introduced to new skaters as well.![]()
It is the right phrase![]()
This one is slightly off topic because we have earlier programs of John Curry in this thread but i couldn't resist to post this exquisite and mesmerizing piece.

John Curry, in that exhibition piece, reminds me a bit of the Protopopovs, in that every moment is exact, percise, deliberate and completely finished.
Thanks for posting the exhibition piece, I don't think we can ever get enough of John Curry's skating.![]()
This always brings me to tears. This one is slightly off topic because we have earlier programs of John Curry in this thread but i couldn't resist to post this exquisite and mesmerizing piece.
