If you need to be close to the action, the cheapest hotel options will be in in the Longwood or Fenway areas. Most are only a block or two from the Green line that goes direct to the Garden.
If you're excited about practices and other events that might be at the Convention Center, the cheapest hotels will be in Quincy on the Red line. Red line trains stop at South Station and there's a shuttle to the Convention Center.
If you just want a less expensive place to crash, try hotels west of the city on the Fitchburg commuter rail line, or north on the Haverhill line.
In my experience, the Garden PA announcers are very good about announcing the last trains so that folks can get from their seats to the train platform in time.
One other thing to consider is that the universities will still be on winter break at that time. Anyone with alumni or current student connections should be able to score much cheaper digs than any hotel can offer.

Hello FSUers!
The Skating Club of Boston is thrilled to see so much enthusiasm for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships returning to Boston in 2014. We of course are extremely excited to host this extra special event, which will not only showcase top talent at all levels of our sport (including Olympic team hopefuls), but will also mark and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. Championships.
Since we only just got the news at the same time you did, we're still getting organized and working through a few details about the event with U.S. Figure Skating. We know you're anxious to find out about ticket packages and hotel options, so we're working on a website that will have all of that information and more. We hope to have everything set and ready to launch by early July, so please stay tuned.
In the meantime, there are a few things that we can tell you:
- The event will be held in a single week with senior events on the final weekend at the TD Garden. Junior and Novice events will be held at the BCEC. Also of note, intermediate and juvenile events will also be included and will be held during the week (the dates and location for these two segments of the competition will announced when the event website goes live).
- There will be a range of options for a variety of budgets so we'd recommend waiting until our packages are published before making any decisions about your lodging.
- The all important shuttle bus.
A spectator shuttle bus from the official hotels to the TD Garden is under consideration for all-event ticket buyers who resere rooms through the LOC's official block of hotels. This service would be a courtesy for all-event ticket holders and there would be a charge for the service to cover its expense.
- We're planning a
event so we hope you'll be able to join us.
We'll post more information as soon as we're able to do so. Also, if you'd like to receive regular updates about the event, please sign up here.
