New Article: "Power & Politics: Political Messages In Figure Skating Programs"

I wrote a new article re: political messages delivered in figure skating programs, for any of you that may be interested! You can read this and other articles and interviews at http://www.facebook.com/SkateGuard and http://skateguard1.blogspot.ca. Would be very interested to hear what other politically charged figure skating programs stand out in your minds!

Thanks - interesting article - I wonder what political message Olga Markova was trying to put across when she skated to "Let My People Go"?

Oh, Olga Markova... how I loved her! And I mean that. Her "Harlem Nocturne", "Miss Saigon", "Bolero" and "The Power Of Love" programs were out of this world. That said, this one... oh wow. I never knew where to start with this. I wonder if this was one of those "lost in translation" things. It's kind of epic.

Definitely a program that was choreographed to the music/melody and not the words. I hope it's not a foreshadow of when they allow lyrics in singles/pairs programs...

The political statement there is "if you don't send me to enough competitions this season, you run the risk of me repeating this program next season and embbarrassing the whole nation when the whole world is watching"
