Time to start thinking about closing ceremonies flagbearers, right?
Is it as big a deal in other countries as it is in the US.

Lots of talk that it should be Christine Sinclair (soccer) for Canada.
I vote Kim Rhode for the US flagbearer. Medaling in five Olympics is worthy of getting the job.
I also think it should be Christine for Closing Ceremonies Flagbearer for Canada. Yes, Rosie won a Gold Medal, but that's not as historic as this being our very first medal in Soccer/Football or the fact Christine was the best player in the entire Tournament.
Sometimes, even though it's a Bronze Medal, how it was won can trump a Gold Medal. In this case, it's oh so true.![]()
Considering that the USA Women's team sports are just KILLING it in London right now, I'd like to see the flag honors go to one of the captains. I'm a gym fan so I'm very partial to Aly Raisman, but would not be disappointed to see it be a joint honor for Kerri and Misty, considering that this is their last Olympics together.
It's always so difficult to choose. I haven't seen the poll yet, though I heard the #SinclairforFlagBearer or something to that effect was trending, and I would be very happy to see that. She had an amazing showing here. It is also a great way to continue promoting World Cup 2015.
Emilie Heymans (our only Olympian to medal in 4 consecutive Olympics, I believe) would be another great candidate, as would Alexandre. I am so impressed by his courage and determination, I can't say that enough.
And yes, Rosie.
This article says Sandra Izbasa will carry the flag for Romania.

I'm still casting a vote for Kim Rhode. 5 Olympics, 5 medals.
Yes, she is a gold medalist, but a gold medal isn't the only decider. When you look at the achievements, what Christine Sinclair managed to do is more remarkable (to some) than Rosie's gold. That doesn't mean Rosie isn't worthy, however.
A great case could also be made for Emilie Heymans or Tonya Verbeek. Four consecutive medals for Emilie and three for Tonya - amazing.
SandraLove her.
Congrats, Sandra! That's an incredible honor for her and she totally deserves it for all the contributions she's made to the sport.![]()
So, she should have shut up and be nice, instead of speaking the truth knowing there could be sanctions coming her way? I have far more respect for someone sticking their neck out on the line when something *very* obviously wrong took place and also sticking up for her team and for her sport!!
Isn't that techincally the role of the Captain? Christine herself said last night she doesn't regret a single thing she said and she didn't say anything that wasn't true either. If she had, then okay I'd understand why there's a minority saying she shouldn't be the Flagbearer, but she didn't!!
I really do hope Christine recieves the Honour.
I'm sorry I began an argument about Sinclair in this thread. We'll just have to disagree on this one. I can understand the arguments for her, but my stance is that there were other athletes (including Canadians) who dealt with fishy officiating (judging/reffing/whatevah) with more tact and grace. Just my gut reaction.
