He's a bravura, competition dancer. Having personality in roles like jesters, Golden Idol, Ali, etc. as well as in contemporary ballet is part of the job.
    I agree.
I think that Nigel's idea of personality/persona is quite different from that used in classical dance.

    Spoiler

Non-spoiler comment- Did last week's Addiction number make anyone else wish to see a number choreographed for Cole and Kupono?

I just saw the Mia Michael's episode, and wow, was that a bad idea or what? The Sunflower routine worked really well, but I hadn't seen it before, so I couldn't compare, which probably helped. Addiction was okay, although I love Cole, I'm not sure I prefer it to the original.

I was hoping Janelle would make the tour so belly dancing would get some exposure to a wider audience, but uhm, she's pretty far from a great belly dancer. She's got charisma in spades, and I suppose I have to ignore the parted lips/porn star face when she dances, but her isolations aren't that isolated and you could drive a truck between her knees when she shimmies and every teacher I have ever had would've come down so hard on that.

Nigel didnt' want Amelia in the top 20. He said he didn't think she was ready but he was outvoted.

I was watching some old SYTYCD videos on YouTube, and I saw a link to this performance with Kathryn McCormick and Cody Green that was just WOW. Had to share it with other dance fans!

Somehow I completely missed the fact that this week would include All Stars (probably because I was so disappointed that Amelia was cut last week). Now I may actually watch tonight, which hadn't been my intention. If they had included

    Spoiler

, I definitely would be watching.

I knew that was Tyce's choreo. Ugh. It was a boring opener.

Cat is sleek in some medieval chain mail.

Oh god. Brandon and Tiffany in Doriana disco. Why are they trying to alienate their diehard fans.

Nauseating lighting. Tricks. My husband liked it.

Tiffany reminds me of Courtney Galliano and Caitlin from last year in that she doesn't have the best lines but she shows 1000 % commitment.

And she is outlasting better dancers.
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.

Which annoyed me with Courtney and with Caitlin. But it hasn't annoyed me with Tiffany, yet. Maybe it's because we had two double eliminations, a two week break because of the Olympics, and very few stand out routines (IMO).

I'll see how I feel after tonight.

Whitney and Nick with Travis, Bring it Back- Moloko

This was okay. I liked the sharpness of the choreo, but Whitney missed it a few times.

I agree. Well we will see

Not nuts about that Travis piece but the dancing was fine.

Anya and Cole- Glad You Came- Cha Cha

I had high hopes for this, but really the best part was the shot of Dimitri after it was over.

Oh Cole trying to rely on his chest and not the dancing. Not his best.

Lindsay, Jacob, Spenser Liff - Me and My Shadow

Now THIS is why I love this show. What a great pairing. Lovely lines. Very fun number.

Jacob and Lindsay look great in this. A ballroom girl could win this? They are being pimped for it by Mary.

Millepied comments are right on on this.

Loved that routine- thrilled to see Jakob back.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

Will Kathryn, Bollywood, oh la la

Hmm. Will made it very campy. But he was so crisp for such a big guy. Kathryn was perfect. I really enjoyed that.
