You're right! Meite was added to fill France's TBA at TEB on Sept. 5 -- link to my post with the updated GP rosters as of Sept. 4: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...78#post3675078
It's all documented in this thread (but a pain to wade through all the pages!).
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden
I am not quite sure if Osmond can be considered now. Winning in Oberstdorf gave her the opportunity to be included in the list of alternates, but not at the top. They will still continue to select from the top 5 of the SB.
As for the airfare factor (Glebova training in USA), there is a rule that the GP organizers pay for the air tickets from/to the country the skater represents. They may but not obliged to pay for the ticket from/to the countries where they train.
So do we know for sure that Glebova repplaced Miki?
That's what I'm referring to.However, Nagasu regretted having just one Grand Prix event so far.
“I don’t have a chance getting to the Final,” she noted. “Hopefully I’ll skate my best and get two (Grand Prix) next year.”
Had she still been with Frank Carroll, a cold phone would have been enough to secure 2 spots.
^ If Kexin Zhang is out, will Mirai frickin finally get her 2nd GP? The way of picking skaters for GPs out of the alternates list is messed up. Has it always been like this?
I'm rooting for Osmond, if only for sheer hilarity.
If Mirai goes without a 2nd GP, she will have time to focus on training, and maybe it will stoke the fires to produce good results. That will be a good thing.
"Puccini cries out for spirals, but really good ones." ~ Dick Button, 1998 Worlds
This is just so irritating. The ISU should be assigning skaters to GPs. You can't claim your GP series to be for top ranked skaters when you allow the hosts to have a say in the picks. It's just killing some of the prestige of the whole thing. If a host can't afford the travel costs of the assigned skaters, then don't host. I tend to doubt that a country would refuse to host just because they have to invite Mirai to their competition instead of Gao or Glebova. UGH. Why must the ISU be so inept.
SUN- Kaetlyn's score from Junior Worlds puts her in the top 5 SB score of those on the alternate list yet to be assigned to 2 GP events, which is what they are choosing from.
