    RIP Donna Summer

Just heard that she died this morning, from cancer. She was 63.

I used to dance so hard to her songs. (dating myself there!)

RIP Donna, and thanks for the music.

63 is not old whatsoever. RIP.

I still dance hard to her songs. She worked hard for the money!

I didn't know she was ill. I was never much into disco but she performed a lot in Europe while I was living in Germany (she may have lived there too for a while) and was very popular there.

There were so many disco tunes that were awful but I thought Donna's music was wonderful. "Heaven Knows" and "Last Dance" keeps playing in my head right now. RIP Donna...

I literally wore out my 45 of "On the Radio" when I was a kid. So, so sad.

She and Giorgio Morodor helped make Eurodisco so popular in the US when I was young - danced through the night to so much of their music together and her own with others later.

So sad. RIP Miss Donna and thank you.

I remember when I was a kid my mom got The MacArthur Park Suite. She tried to teach me to do the hustle.

Donna Summer's music was the soundtrack to my budding adolescence - every single boy-girl party in the 6th grade we had always had two or three of her songs played, and we always ended each party with her iconic "Last Dance."

RIP, Donna - your songs will live forever "On the Radio."

So very sad. Donna Summer and Whitney Houston were both such a big part of the music I grew up with.

I used to just enjoy Donna Summer's music as fun songs, but now I think she was an very talented songwriter too. Particularily I think of Bad Girls (the mixing of nursery rhymes with the naughty theme) and On the Radio (which I read was written for Rod Stewart, and was so characteristic of the nostalgic songs he was recording around that time).

Wow, this is a shock. I had no idea she was suffering from breast cancer.

She ruled during the 70's/early 80's. My favorite songs are Bad Girls, I Feel Love, and Sunset People.

Absolutely terrible news. We have now lost both Whitney and Donna in the space just 6 month. Awful. RIP Donna

Donna Summer is one of my favorite singers of all time. I've seen her live and her voice was fabulous.
Disco is not considered a great music style so her voice was not appreciated as it should have been. One of the best voices in music history ever.

Something very unsettling about icons from one's younger days going.

Those two disco songs are classic.

I love disco and she was the greatest of them all. Her talent wasn't really recognized because she got stuck with the genre..really one of the greatest singers of her generation...RIP Donna.
