To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

I saw Perry Fenwick being interviewed on tv last week, he was incredibly nervous about the whole thing and had been constantly checking around the set that there was nothing he could trip over. He said that the first 20 minutes of Eastenders had already been recorded and that the last ten minutes would pick up the actual live torch relay. He said it was really weird that he would be a torchbearer running the relay in real life as himself and his tv character

I know Derek Redmond's father was selected as a torch bearer, but I don't believe he's had his turn yet.

I'm holding out a fantasy that he and his son light the torch together.

I was out this evening so recorded it and whizzed through to the important bit.

Best use of Olympic torch so far has to go to Patsy Stone/Joanna Lumley who lit her ciggie off it at the end of tonight's AbFab special.

Sir Bruce Forsyth is carrying the torch tomorrow

    Legend!

ETA hmmm... dont see his name listed - perhaps he was just winding us up on the one show?

I see Joanna Lumley is listed though! Perhaps she will light her fag again for real!

Watching a great programme on BBC One about the Torch Relay - Im almost sorry the Olympics are mere hours away and it's coming to an end.

Just inspired the entire summer (of sorts!) here in the UK, Jubilee street parties and the Torch Relay.

Complete strangers actually TALKED to each other - it was amazing. I'll never forget this summer (and not just for the mainly shite weather!!)

I agree - it's been a lovely tour of our great United Kingdom - some great sites and amazing stories!!

I went to see it come through my local town - it poured down but I stood with many others for over an hour to see the torch go past chatting and laughing with people I had never met before and will probably never see again. We only saw the torch for a few minutes but I was glad I went - even if I had to go home and change out of damp wet clothes. I just did what all true brits do - I made and cup of tea and had a digestive biscuit (or two )
