Wow, that is sad! I remember hearing that he had cancer a while back, but I though he had recovered.

I just checked and found that I have no Beastie Boys in my collection. So right now I'm listening to samples of their Anthology: The Sounds Of Science compilation (two discs, 42 tracks in all).
I'm off to the Patrick Chan threads...where you can watch a molehill become a mountain in seconds!!!

I have several of their albums, but I used to have Paul's Boutique (their best IMO) and lost it somewhere along the way...I may go buy it after work tonight. Le sigh.

    So sad to hear.

I could listen to Intergalactic and Sabotage over and over.

Saddened by this news. I heard he was not present at the RNR induction last month. I guess he was in final stage of his life.

Pioneers of music and The Beastie Boys are legends, underrated and underappreciated legends.

Love the Beastie Boys! I choreographed a dance for my high school dance team to Brass Monkey. My cousin and I were just talking about them last week and how we had recently thrown in the CD on a road trip and jammed out. good times.

Huge fan of them. Beastie Boys were a part of my college/young adult soundtrack - one of the few early punk bands to switch genres and have massive success. Of course, I always found it that three Jewish guys became major rap moguls.

All kinds of memories of getting in trouble with this cranking in the background

R.I.P. MCA. His death just totally hit me. I feel like a so many huge chunks of my childhood are gone.

Apparently at a Coldplay concert last night Chris Martin did a Beastie Boys tribute - doing a piano ballady version of Fight for your right to party. OMG it was just awful.

Whilst the intent was honorable, the execution was really embarassing.

The BB also really hated that song. But intent was nice.
