Car rentals tend to be more expensive if you rent from the airport, right? Maybe you can take the light rail from the airport and go to a rental place near one of the other stations?

Pretty sure the cost of gas would more than absorb any savings. Not to mention the time to drive from Spokane.

A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry

BTW, this would be a great time to get a tetinus/Diptherea/ Whooping cough shot if you havent had one in the last 10 years. While there are only 1500 confirmed cases of Whooping cough in WA, the desease is so mild in adults I am sure there are many more around. Got mine today and insurance covers it. And who wants to be the person to give the desease to one of the four kids that have died this year because of the epidemic?

There's that little mountain range in between Spokane and Seattle, too. It tends to get snowy in the winter.

Edit: I now see that CC was joking a bit, guess I am just slow sometimes!

Actually, the pass isnt bad usually till December....my wife drives it all winter day and night and you dont even need chains if you have AWD. Sometimes they close it for avalanche control, though.

If anyone wants to sit with a group of FSUers, I just got a ticket near one group that came together a few days ago. My seat is one-row above the and there are several seats beside it, it is Section 119/Row 7/Seat 7 - seats 8, 9 and 10 are available.

It's a corner seat and I wasn't sure it was the best - chose apparently because it's good for seeing the footwork sequences - but actually preferred to pay the lower fee ($75 rather than $125 plus tax/fees).

Ha! I think you're sitting in the row right above me.

I hope those people in the $350 seats in the front section, fueled by their two free pre-show drinks, behave themselves

Only if you want to pay $350 for the "premium seats".

And in addition to the two free drinks prior to each session, you get "complimentary light hors deurves". In Kent, I think that means Cheetos and Bits'n'Bites.

Bolt Bus launches service from Seattle to Vancouver on 31 May, picking up near Pacific Station and dropping off across the street from the International District transit center, where you can get light rail to the airport. They've already launched service from Portland to Seattle.

    https://www.boltbus.com/default.aspx

So far the prices for one way trips range from $1 to $16, with a $1 service charge. (I only booked a one-way, and I'm not sure if it's $1/ticket or $1/trip or $1/shopping cart.) This is consistent with their pricing on the East Coast. Tickets are a lot cheaper than either Cantrail (also picking up from Pacific Station), at $40 each way/$72 round trip, $36 each way for AAA cardholders, or $30 each way with their commuter tickets, or Quick Shuttle's $49 for both one way and round trips. Round-trip can be comparable to non-refundable, advanced Greyhound fare, if you can stand Greyhound, but it took me almost six hours to get to Seattle both times I've used them: they seem to stop everywhere.

The trips are direct -- no stops in Richmond/Surrey like Cantrail, or five in Canada with detours to the Bellingham airport and Seattle Premium Outlets on the US side -- and they advertise wifi and power outlets on every bus. If their wifi is more reliable than Quick Shuttles, then , although the outlets themselves are an advantage.

Now they have 4 buses/day scheduled for Seattle/Vancouver and six buses a day for Portland/Seattle. I expect them to be formidable competition for Quick Shuttle, whose only advantage for people in downtown Vancouver is their hotel pickup, although for the price differential, it can be cheaper to take a taxi to Pacific Station, and for Cantrail, whose advantage is combined ticketing with Amtrak trains and possible timing with Amtrak connections to Portland/LA and the train that goes to Chicago.

For people with a little more time for this trip who are interested in visiting Portland and/or Vancouver along the way, this is a cost-effective way to do it.

The roster has many people I love ( Abbott, Hanyu, Kozuka, Volosozhar/Trankov, Davis/White, Weaver/Poje... Plus the tantalizing peak at re-vamped Bobrova/Soloviev and the glories of Zhulin and Krylova. I just might say screw the distance and go- that's a good roster they got. As long as work does not completely interfere...)

A detour to the outlet shopping mall is never a bad thing

The problem is you can't stop there and get on a later bus into Seattle or Vancouver. They won't sell any ticket that doesn't cross the border. I'm sure there's a city bus option, so that you can get out on the way to Seattle, but it's annoying to shop with luggage.

ETA: It's ugly -- you have to start in Everett -- and means taking a taxi or a 3+ mile walk from the Outlet to the old casino -- not the shiny new Tulalip casino, right next door -- and then three buses that take 2 hours 29 minutes to get to King Street Station. It's also possible to taxi to the Everett train station and then get the 8:59pm Amtrak train, which gets into King Street Station at 10:10pm, because the last morning Sounder train leaves from Everett at 10:02am.

It would be cheaper to go directly to Seattle and rent a Zipcar for a few hours and drive back north with the luggage in the trunk, especially with more than one person.

For Skate America, the advantage of the Quick Shuttle is for people who want to go to Seatac and would rather stay on the bus instead of getting to the bus/light rail, making the transfer, etc. (It's about another $30 r/t.) QS also picks up from the Vancouver airport.
