Carolina Kostner: best programs, most interesting programs and the best skating skills of all the ladies, senior or junior, competing this past season. Also, she was arguably the most consistent skater this season (I never thought I would put "consistent" and Carolina in the same sentence). The only skater who was probably more consistent was Julia.

This is based on performances throughout the entire season. Whilst Czisny had a disastrous finish to the season, she had a good first half. She won a grand prix event and made the grand prix final, in which she suffered an unfortunate injury.

I happened to think that the injury in the grand prix final did lasting damage to her season, as by the time she had recovered, it seemed to have completely undermined her self confidence. Had the injury not occurred, her season could well have turned out very differently. Hence, I think she merits a place in the poll based upon her good start to the season.

I think people are writing her off prematurely. If she can remain injury free, she can rebuild her self confidence during the off season. That could well set up for as good a season as she had in 2010/11. Remember, she has come back from disappointing form before.

Ok, ok, the beginning of her season was decent/good. I still think it's weird she's an option for the BEST, but oh well, I'll live. I think with her unpredictability she COULD come back strong next year, or bomb again, who knows?!

For me, Ashley comes before anyone, even Carolina.

She won US title, 4cc, and finished the highest since Kimmie. Plus she pulled that off with all range of seven triples(albeit one of them is flutz)

How often do we see that in a recent flock of SENIOR ladies?

Well she delivered descent results in the GP, as well as at Euros and Worlds this season, plus she has done several senior B's, which have helped her ranking.

She is the Caroline Wozniacki of the figure skating world in that she has been able to move up the rankings due to quantity, as opposed to quality.

    Viktoria is ranked 10th, not 4th. http://www.isuresults.com/ws/ws/wsladies.htm

I picked Carolina because she has the artistry, good quality jumps and spins. The quality of her skating is number one amongst the rest imo.

But won't she benefit a lot from the purging affecting ladies above her (like say Nagasu?)

Projected top 24 ladies after the forthcoming update (2009-10 points removed; 2010-11 points reduced to 70%): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...49#post3547449

ETA that I voted for Kostner in the poll.
