"Once you've skated together long enough, and you're really good friends, you can close your eyes, put your hand out and she's right there." Joe Dolkiewicz, 2011 US Novice Pairs Bronze Medalist
Absolutely, have you seen some of the dresses worn to Prom where they clearly do not have a dress code?

Ghetto Proms are the best. Seriously those kids don't look so bad. That's the way the people at my prom looked minus the dresses and suits to nba teams and fashion brands labels
However, the girl with the brown dress with only leaves covering up her nips, BIG MAMA, and the pregnant girl showing off her belly were so wrong thoughI would have loved the opportunity to
at them at the prom

If I were the parents of some of these people I might have an issue or two, but in principle I applaud the individualism, and support anyone who wants to tiff it up.
When I was in high school we all dressed alike - scanning through my old yearbooks today I realize there was very little room for individualism, personal expression or imagination. We all wore the same brands of jeans and sneakers, did our hair the same, shopped in the same stores, and basically did everything we could to fit in. Rather boring I think.
No. It's prom. It's not like people will be distracted from doing their school work.
As long as it doesn't violate any local nudity ordinances, what's the big deal?

^ I agree, as long as it's reasonably covering up the family jewels![]()
prom codes existed when my kids were in high school - 14 years ago. To some extent it was to avoid gang wars at prom. In other instances it avoid indecent exposures - the kind that would result in misdemeanor charges. The faculty and others really didn't want to be fashion police, but they had to be.
Be kind to others, you never know when you might need some kindness in return. Unless of course, you drive a death banana, then anything goes
So did my my parents, so did I, so do my kids...
so do all kids, kids will never change....
But yes there should be a prom dress code or you will have all kind of inappropriateness
Ok....those toe nails were just too much for words.....I will never think of a pedicure in the same way again.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls--Audrey Hepburn
'K, I need to get my eyes checked -- I read this as "Porn Dress Codes."![]()
Not too far off the mark, then.![]()

I have been to about 15 too many proms. You think that looks inappropriate now, what do you think happens when she starts dancing??? And the dresses with slits up to the upper thighs get hiked up for dancing until we are seeing everything. It does get indecent.
It is sad that parents cannot be relied on to help teens make smart choices and schools have to intervene.
