The Standing O's for Joshua are beyond absurd. I can't help but wonder if they do that whenever he takes a leak .

Jessica's second song was the best she's been since the season started, but it can't make up for her butchering of BoRap. That was just criminal.

Elise kicked ass on both songs, but of course the Three Stooges have that bus aimed right for her and Hollie. About the latter, the tinfoil hat wearer in me has a sneaking suspicion they did that to avoid the voter backlash that resulted in Jessica being voted off two weeks ago.

I didn't miss Colton one bit.

P2 does Dave Matthews, and the judges panned it?

Also, STFU judges about picking obscure songs - Elise *slayed* that Hendrix song; she took a big risk, and it worked (songwise) for her. My concern is that the Tween contigency won't "get" it and will vote for Hollie and that Miley Fcuking Cyrus song simply because they're familiar with it.

If anyone wants to vote for Elise, her numbers are 1-866-436-5704/5710

P2 doing Fat Bottomed Girls? I've never seen a contestant use a song that was covered by the group in a medley. Speaking of the medley, that was painful. And unnecessary.

I am not fond of The Climb but IMO Hollie was the best of the 2nd round. That's not saying much because everyone kind of sucked. WTH was P2 singing? Simon would have called that indulgent nonsense. I hated it. I would call round 1 for Joshua but he ruined it by "taking it to church" the 2nd half of the song. He annoys me.

ETA: I don't mind obscure songs, usually they are obscure only to Randy. But I didn't like Phillip's performance.

The first round was essentially a wash for me- they all did about as well as they could, and Elise and Phil were my personal faves.

Second round I'd say Elise, Hollie, Jessica, and Skylar did great, Joshua was fine and Phil did kinda terrible. I applaud the song choice originality......but this didn't work like it should have. Maybe a different DMB song with more melody would give him more to work with. I have no idea who should go after tonight, I just know I never want to see Elise, Hollie, or Phil go home.

I never agree with y'all on anything reality-TV related!

Love Jessica. Love Joshua. Love Elise. My ideal F3.

    Like Skylar and Hollie.

Phillip is just...terrible. And no he will not be a star. I smell another Lee DeWyze if he wins, and that's that!

    ^^^This X 1,000,000.

If either of those two are sent packing, I expect the one brain shared by Three Stooges to have a huge aneurysm*, the upside of that being three new [strike]judges] stooges at the table in the future.

I'm so sick of anyone on AI doing Bohemian Rhapsody....Jessica's version was terrible, worst performance of the night by a mile. I just kept thinking about how Constantine and Adam did it 1000x's better.

I actually thought Joshua's second standing O was well deserved. I love his tone of voice when he's not going over the top. His first performance however, was a hot screechy mess. It makes me so angry that someone like Joshua is getting NO guidance from the judges. How is he supposed to grow as a performer? The overwrought praise week after week is doing him no favors.

Elise was tonight and I wanted to punch Randy and Steven tonight. Usually I DVR Idol so I can FF during the weekly judges bussing of Hollie and Elise's performances, but I made the mistake of watching it live tonight.

I actually loved Hollie's Miley Cyrus song, and thought it was really smart. She sang it better than the original artist, and she gave herself the opportunity to connect with the tween voters. She really connected with the song, and that's what really made the performance enjoyable for me. As much as it's cheesy pop song, I really felt that Hollie connected with the lyrics based on her AI experience.

I'd like the final three to be Phillip, Elise, and Jessica, but I know that won't happen.

I don't care for Skylar's nasally voice, don't like country, and didn't like her shouting tonight. But, I'd take her over Joshua any day. Have the judges ever criticized him? You'd think from listening to the judges tonight that they want a Joshua/Skylar final. That would not make me happy. (However, I will say that Joshua's second song tonight was my favorite from him in the competition. He wasn't shouting!)

Overall, I didn't think the Queen songs were sung particularly well. I love Queen, but their songs are hard to sing as well as the originals.

I wonder how short the list was for the songs for the second hour. I think they should have left out all the comments the contestants made about each other. Most of them came across as catty.

I don't pretend to understand the judges and Hollie.

Any bets on whether there will be three girls in the bottom three?

I think Hollie summed up what, at the very least, she and Jessica felt: she said something that basically implied that she really didn't know Queen at all and she just found the one song and ran with it.

I was floored by Joshua not doing "Somebody to Love"! Floored but relieved, of course. Skylar was great, Elise really nailed it. P2 was not in his element and my sister and I were both sad that he didn't DMB-ify "Killer Queen."

I only saw a bit of the Queen part, but I thought Joshua absolutely sucked. I didn't see him introduced, so it took me a few moments to even figure out what song he was slaughtering. I don't know what the judges were listening to, and I nearly smashed my head on a wall when they gave that a standing ovation.

Elise was great, Jessica was .... not, Skylar was okay, Hollie was good (Hollie! Look out for that bus!) and while Philip was flat in places, mad props for not picking one of the standard TV show Queen songs and at least having fun with it.

Yeah but they said he's leaving soon for Singapore. Which would indicate that he's been home for a while.

I completely agree. I think he's cute until he starts singing, then he's grotesque. He's been compared to Dave Matthews all season so the last thing he should do is DMB material. And when he does it badly the comparison really hurts him. Or it should.

And what's the deal with the standing O for EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of Joshua's performances? I did like his 2nd song but he turned his 1st song into another OTT take it to church mess.

My favorites were Joshua, Elise, and Skylar, but I also liked Phillip's first song and Jessica's & Hollie's second.

After the comments last week about the songs being too old for Jessica, how is Bohemian Rhapsody appropriate for her? "Mama, just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled the trigger, now he's dead." And, didn't she attempt to run around a bit and shreik when she did Turn the Beat around. And didn't the judges tell her to be who she is and stand there and sing ballads. And now they are telling her to channel Tina Turner. Riiiiiight. She really looks like someone who has traveled the hard road, wiped the blood off her beaten face, and lived to tell about it. Jessica's second song was perfect for her.

I figured they weren't letting them do cheesy Miley songs like the Climb which would be perfect for Jessica. And then Hollie does it. And it worked for her.

Elise really rocked. And I absolutely loved Joshua's second song. Might be my first AI download (along with Elise's Gotta Whole Lotta Love).

Phillip is being himself which means he is the same every week.

Skylar has emerged as a very marketable talent. I wish they would let Skylar, Phillip, and Elise do their own songs.

I think Hollie should go this week, but after that, I don't care who is in the F3. I like them all most of the time.
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.

totally agree. They are both so overrated and it's frustrating because for the most part there's way more talent this year than the last few. But of course it wouldn't be AI without blantant manipulation.
