    Playing with ice while performing!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A_dtezybzM

When I was in chills yet again watching Yagudin's Winter(God, the audience at SLC just goes nuts for him!), I came to wonder whether there are more of these kinds of playing with ice while performing in competitions.

It sort of feels wonderful, isn't it? Like children playing with snow!

Anything that comes to your mind?

*BTW, http://www.youtube.com/user/analgin13 This channel is so glorious, lots of clips with HD resolution! You should see it.

I found it! SA in 2008. Love her positions all throughout the program

    =======================================

Oh, my mistake. Not SA, US nationals in 2009. And it was choreography so I understood that she did it throughout the season

^ She also did it Cup of China in 2008 and NHK Trophy in 2008. The video you posted is a typo. That's from 2009 US Nationals, from what it looks like.

Carolina did it several times in this year's long program, between the last two spins. I remember seeing it at Skate America: http://youtu.be/ZkJK41h6WIk and at Challenge Cup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbFWbiEGO5Q. I think she left it out a couple of times though, including at Worlds, because she was behind the music a little.

Brian Boitano's classic, Sandra Bezic-choreographed sp from 1988, Les Patineurs:

Brian flings ice from his skate blade around 1:12 (and 3:39 in slo mo). Great program!

I'm not keen on the ice playing concept, seems a bit contrived for me. That's just my personal opinion though. I may like it a bit more if they flung the ice at the judges...
I guess the hard thing for a lot of people to accept is why God would allow me to go running through their yards, yelling and spinning around.

^^ Come on, Ozzisk8tr, now that would be a bit too much "playing to the judges' don't you think? Perhaps, kissing the ice is a better move to convince the judges you believe it was the skate of your life, or that you just like kissing/ licking ice.

Yes, David pantomimed playing with the ice as if throwing a snowball (like in the movie). And at the end, David kissed the ice:

This program is such perfection, and deserves to be remembered without comparison, without scandal, without controversy.

    Kissing ice or arse?
When you are up to your arse in alligators it is difficult to remember you were only meant to be draining the swamp.

Maybe the judges should put ice on their asses. Then the skaters could choose wether to kiss it, play with it, or even motorboat it.

Hey, with CoP judging, that's what Brian B would have deserved. No 6.0s for that classic sp ... Come on judges! Oh well, the judges had to give Brian B his due in his fab fp, altho' many felt Brian O was due to win Olympic gold for being short-changed in 1984. Both Brians were great -- Brian B was slightly greater.

Hmmm, I think some skaters in this instance might rather

Is it the off-season already? At least WTT is still to come.
