Actually, this is incorrect. Plushenko's idol was Viktor Petrenko!

And of course, we all know the old story of Artur Gachinski having a Plushenko clock in his bedroom.

Michal Brezenia's idol is Jeffrey Buttle.

    Pluschenko had an idol ?

    and that's an understatement
Gachinski is a poor man's Pluschenko clone

Boitano was Michelle's mentor during the most course of her career. And in this year's WFSHOF induction ceremony, Brian introduced her!

    From Lambiel's official website.

    His favorite skaters are:
Ilia Kulik, Alexei Yagudin, Michelle Kwan, Carolina Kostner, Susanna Pöykiö, Sasha Cohen, Nicole Bobek, Shizuka Arakawa, Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze, Gordeeva & Grinkov, Klimova & Ponomarenko, Drobiazko & Vanagas, Virtue & Moir
Quite a long list! Poykio, I wonder what she's doing lately. She had such potential.

Now that it's mentioned, I can see the Tara influence in Ashley's skating.

Your above link is to the small medal ceremony for the men's free skating.

Here is a link to Pat's 2012 Worlds exhibition skate:

Nice choreo from Buttle, and with this choreo I see Patrick is improving artistically. I can see Jeff performing beautifully to this. Very clean and smooth execution from Patrick. Can hear a baby's cry out toward the end. Maybe, closing his eyes works for Patrick, but it doesn't make me feel any deep emotion from his skating. As a skating commentator who loves Patrick recently said about his skating: "His passion is in the blade."

Skaters do love skaters and as Tanith said during her Worlds commentary, "The number of skaters found in the audience at events proves that skaters love to watch skating too."

Michelle Kwan is probably going to be my all-time favorite forever...on the ice - she's "The Queen." Off the ice, she's so nice to everybody and never puts on an act. Always spontaneous - I like people like that.

Didn't Susanna Poykio once say that Kwan was her favorite skater?

IIRC, Johnny Weir once said that Irina Slutskaya was his favorite female skater.

    Poykio did.

Irina ultimately became a fav of Johnny's, all things Russian.

In an interview years ago, Oksana Baiul was asked who of the up-and-coming skaters had the most artistic promise, she replied "Definitely Sash Cohen!".

-Yes, I saw a fluff piece in which S&Z cited G&G as the ideal pairs team and noted that they frequently watched videos of their skating and tried to emulate their style (G&G are my all-time favourite pair team, too)

-I remember Katia saying that B&S were reminiscent of her and Sergei

-I believe one of Lu Chen's idols was Kristi Yamaguchi

-I read somewhere that Fumie looked up to Michelle and that Michelle taught her her first triple

-Joannie stated that Oksana Baiul and Michelle Kwan were inspirations when she was younger (and also expressed admiration for Mao Asada and Kim Yu Na)
    http://www.figureskating-online.com/...-rochette.html

-In the Q&A after the 4CC small medal ceremony, Patrick cited Daisuke as an inspiration and said that he had learned a lot from him
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcPQNItAd_Q

-Elena and Nikita have expressed admiration for Tessa and Scott on twitter and in an interview, respectively

-Tessa and Scott mentioned in the 4CC Q&A that they looked up to Shae and Vic and Marie-France and Patch
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV5xk...feature=relmfu

-In the same Q&A session, Meryl said that she and Charlie spent a lot of time around and looked up to Punsalan&Swallow and Belbin&Agosto. She also mentioned that Charlie has always looked up to Todd Eldredge, and said that they both admire Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi (for how they have handled their success)

-And also in this Q&A, Kaitlyn Weaver said that even when they were skating in different parts of the continent, she and Andrew really admired Bourne&Kraatz and Kaitlyn mentioned that Shae is a great role model (and Andrew nodded in agreement); Kaitlyn said that they also admire Kurt Browning as a skater and person
Thanks so much for sharing. I have a lot to catch up on, and I really loved the interview with Joannie. Thanks also for the YouTube video with Patrick after the 4CC ceremony.
