Yes Virginia, There Still Are Really Good People Out There
CTV Northern Ontario news just out and out plain sucks anymore, so I watch CTV Toronto on the dish instead. Last night there was a story about 15 year old Brian Peterson who is suffering from Eplipsy who was just taking a ride on his bike in the nearby park Sunday afternoon. This teen who was bigger and stronger than him, came up to him while he was on his bike, punched him in the chest and then in the upper arm to knock him off the bike and then he hopped on and took off w/the bike.
This Family has been through an awful lot of late. His Dad's recovering from a severe heart attack and surgery and his Mom's just lost her job. She was in tears last night because being able to go out on his bike was one of the few things in her child's life that made him happy and gave him joy w/all he's having to cope w/. He's on about 20 different meds to try and control his seizures and she was also amazed the attack didn't trigger one, as the stress and shock very well could have.
W/in mere seconds of this story airing, the phones at CTV Toronto were ringing off the hook and the E-mails were also flying in. Not only that, but people were also calling the home and all in order to help Brian get another bike. Then another call came to the house and this guy on the other end told them he was leaving the store w/his new bike and how did they want to pick it up?

The video of the follow up story from last night's 11pm newscast and Brian trying out his new wheels goes along w/the story at that link.
In this day and age of so much negativity and meanness out and about on the news and World, it's beyond wonderful to know there are indeed still fantastic people out there willing to help when needed.
Just thought I'd share that w/everyone.
