    Chag Sameach!!

Even though I'm not religious, this is the first year I've never been to Seder , and it feels weird - all of our close Jewish relatives are out of town this year, MiniCyn is with a friend for Spring Break, and the North Georgia Mountains aren't exactly overrun with Jewish families/people (hell, the closest synagogue is at least 50 miles from where we live, not that I'd attend regularly ).

Wish I had known you would have been welcome here. We had it at my house this year.

    Chag Sameach everyone.

I thought you might appreciate a little tale of Jewish guilt gone wrong in honor of the occasion. My stepfather and mother usually hold the seder, but my stepfather has been sick for the past few days so my mom cancelled the seder. I also have been fighting the flu, but mom called this morning and wanted me to come to family dinner tonight. When I told her I was not feeling well, she said, "But I've cooked and it's just dinner. So come and have dinner. It's the holiday."

Needless to say, I didn't have much of an option after that, so I dragged myself over there. At least, she only lives a few miles away. And she was very happy that I came -- that is, until I wasn't even able to keep down half a bowl of matzoh ball soup.

I don't think my mom will be playing the guilt card any time soon.

    Chag Sameach!

Feel better, reckless. If you had to be sick, I'm glad it has a silver lining.

    Happy Passover to all

My roommates are Jewish and hosted a Seder in our apartment this year. It's the first time I've been to one. It was a really nice learning experience. I'm glad I got to go

I'm such a renegade Jew. I've rarely celebrated Pesach due to living away from my immediate family and not being accepted by the cousins (because my family was not observant enough). Some years ago I attended a Pesach hosted by a non-Jew and a few years back I attended a sedar with friends hosted by the Peretz Institute of Secular Judaism. It was $35 a plate for a rather dismal meal - though the choir was excellent - so I declined the invite last year, the price having gone up to $50.

I wish I could celebrate the holiday with my brother and sister, but they are in Winnipeg. I'm going to a potluck lunch at the home of a Christian friend tomorrow hosted by his landlords, who I believe are Catholics. I've been assured there will be no religious ceremony.
