Anyone here train in Salt Lake City?
We are thinking of taking our son their this summer to train for a couple weeks.
Just wondering what the rink is like and activities they have their in the summertime for skaters?
I don't live there, but was there last year for a competition. Because of the Salt Lake City winter Olympics, they have a number of wonderful rinks there. I skated at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex (a 2-rink facility) as well as at County Ice, which is the nicest rink I've ever skated at. The big club in the area is Salt Lake Figure Skating http://www.saltlakefigureskating.com/ and they are based at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex http://www.recreation.slco.org/slcSports/index.html
See if there are any organized skate camps for kids at his level. That can be a lot of fun, and really useful. In addition, since you now know that one coach you'd mentioned in the SLC area, perhaps he can do private lessons with her while he's up there.
One nice thing about skating camp is that he may meet some other boys who skate. IMO, it's always good for boys to meet as many other boy skaters as possible.
You might want to browse the Intermountain Interclub Association's web site (majority of the clubs are Utah clubs and are linked from the Member Clubs navigation tab): http://www.intmntclub.org/index.html
