Anyways, what I've been most amazed when it comes to skaters' lives is that they more than many times managed to maintain their personal matters not to interrupt their professional lives. I guess that applies to many people of other sports.

I think that Trankov would have had a problem with Vasiliev's coaching no matter what, because Vasiliev spoke about being the end of the line of "manufactured" Soviet teams, and that seems to have been his approach with Totmianina/Marinin as well (along with the relationship with the woman on the team), and that doesn't sit well with creative types. Marinin's artistic potential were fulfilled in the "Bolero" series.

By the way, when and why did Totmianina & Vasiliev separate?
