[QUOTE=Triple Butz;3497460]A silly mistake in the sp cost her, but she came back strong in the free skate with a 3z/3r (first by a US lady). I so wish ABC had shown her free skate since I never got to see it.

Back in the day (Michelle Kwan era) skaters were lucky to be shown on tv if they placed lower than sixth after the short,

unlike after Michelle quit and much lower placing skaters were shown on tv.

That's just not true. I became a fan of many 6-10th ranked US skaters back in the 1990s because ABC was awesome enough to show them.

I think I remember days when they showed all of the short programs, at least. Am I remembering this incorrectly?

What happened to Deanna? Injury? I watched youtube clips of her and she was gorgeous. I think she would have done well under COP.

I remember them showing at least ten-12 women's short programs. It wasn't always the top 12, but women of 'interest' if you will. They used to show a ton of pairs, men, and dance shorts on ESPN2 about 12-13 years ago.

I can't remember specifics but I'm pretty sure it was a chronic, re-occuring injury??

^^^ Thanks for that. I didn't realize she had an injury. For some reason, I thought she went off to college.
DH - and that's just my opinion

So cool how she was able to recover from that, what a heartbreaking end to her career (and so sad to read). I can't believe how she overcame that, what an amazing woman she is. Will always love her and her skating, even though it didn't last long enough.

Such a shame, she had so much potential!

but she did accomplish a lot in a short time.....

& she seems to be happy now post-skating
