Which youngster did you think was the next great US lady?

When you saw these skates (or even earlier ones), which one did you think would be the next great US lady skater?

(Left out current skaters & skaters who became national champions or Olympians. Also had to leave out some notable like Sara Wheat, Christine Zukowski, Katy Taylor, Sydne Vogel etc. because I couldn't find good junior level clips. Please share if you have any!).

NNN - she really stole the show at 1999 Nationals!!

And maybe also AP McDonough. I was so impressed watching her at 2001 Nationals, lots of elegance.

I really enjoyed watching her skate despite her inconsistent jumps in competition. Her triple Lutz was a thing of beauty when she hit it!

Thanks for posting all these video links!

These are the two I would have picked also. Liang was always breaking my heart and NNN's injury ended that promise.

    What great videos. Thank you.

Baby Ye Bin . She got some impressive air time on her 2axel. Too many young skaters whip their axels around at that age, but hers are massive. I didn't follow skating that closely when she won her Jr Nationals titles, but really enjoyed her programs from 2003 Nationals (or was it 2002?) when she finished 6th overall.

After 97 nationals I thought Angela Nikodinov would become a major contender. In hindsight, even before her string of tragedies and bad luck, I don't think she ever wanted it badly enough.

Of those listed, I thought Kirk would win some big medals but her consistency seemed to abandon her after 2001.

Ye Bin Mok finished either last or close to last at the 05 US Nats, but she was one of the most enjoyable skaters in the comp. *sigh*

Definitely NNN, and Bebe to some extent.

NNN, she was so wonderfully charismatic in 99. Seeing, two 13 yr olds in the interview that yr, along with Angela and MK, no one could have convinced me then that it would be Sarah who would go on to win OG and not Naomi.

Deanna Stellato. Her technique was spot on. Bebe's was as well. I always though Naomi, Jenni Kirk, and AP were iffy with their technique. YeBin was never very consistent and Ervin always look like she was going to get big. Too bad about Deanna's problems, I think she had a solid future. I was always a big fan of Katy Taylor's as well. What happened to her?

AP McDonough. After the 2002 Jr. World title and strong showings at Skate America and the 2003 U.S. Nationals, I really thought she'd be a legitimate threat to Sasha by the time Torino rolled around. *sigh*

Stylistically, Yebin Mok is probably my favorite of those ladies mentioned. But Deanna Stellato and NNN were gorgeous too, so it's hard to pick!

A combination of injury and puberty derailed her after 2007 Nationals, unfortunately.

I couldn't find her 2004 US Nationals or Junior Worlds programs on youtube (she won silver and bronze, respectively), but here is her FS from her last junior international competition in December 2005 at the JGP Final (4th place): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o6CTR5GlnM
I loved her smile and energy on the ice.

Bebe. She had such a strong work ethic that I thought it would take her right to the top. Unfortunate hip problems did her consistency in . It really is a shame because she developed such a fiery personality on the ice that was all her own.

I always enjoyed Bebe's skating and wanted to see her succeed. At least she got a nationals medal and a trip to Worlds.

I always have loved Katy Taylor and she reminded me of Tiffany Stiegler in a way, if that makes sense? I think Cindy Caprel is a great coach and has never found the exact right student. I loved Deanna and thought she had a great future, but with her personal problems and injuries it was not going to happen. What a great talent and such drive.......

Definitely Naomi Nari Nam. I also had high hopes for Ann Patrice McDonough.

NNN. Such presence on the ice. I never was a fan of Liang. I don't know why. She just never did it for me.
