part of the issue is that several countries administer their figure skating and speed skating (short and long track) together - i.e. NISA - so the new leader would need to be aware and experienced in all of the ice sports.. it might be like comparing tennis and basketball - but historically ice sports have been administered by the same organization..
Thanks to PI .. I discovered I'm actually a Nontheist

Cinquanta was sooooo experienced in figure skating before he took over? I think they've proven again and again that they don't "need" someone with a depth of knowledge in both, or even in all sub-sets of one.

Oh? How odd. Maybe the NHL should take over usfs... Hockey seems to have just as much to do with fs as speed skating does.

    I would LOVE that choice.

(as an aside: I would love to interview him for my podcast too)
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.

I loved his skating commentary in the 1980s with Judy Blumberg and Judy Schwomeyer. JMP would be a great podcast subject!

She would never accept, but my choice would be Janet Lynn.

    JMP podcast

    Oooo
    An early fav of mine.

Ask him about doing commentary at 1984 Worlds in Ottawa when they lost power. Plus working there with the extraordinarily clueless John Tesh.

And about Dick Button & the Salchow trophy!!!

I agree with this. The NFL now broadcasts all their games in full HD over the internet from their website. They have several different packages tailored to what fans want. With a premium pass I can watch any game any time all season.

The ISU could certainly make money if they did the same. They've got to wake up and realize this is the 21st C, not 1950.

I don't think these two will retire until they become physically incapable of attending meetings and talking. Their jobs just come with two many perks and they don't have to do a whole lot I would think, relative to what an average person does in a 40 hours work week.
