Forgive me for starting this thread here but there's no Euros thread in K&C yet, and I need some answers!
Per their website, I've emailed Euros in Zagreb for an all-event ticket...no answer. Someone here assured me there are plenty of tickets to buy on-site, but when you're coming from the U.S. you'd like a little more certainty, i.e. a ticket in advance. Thoughts?
Also who's brilliant idea was it to have the SD first out of all the competitions? For those of us who can't get there til Wednesday late afternoon, that is really a PITA.
And which is the best hotel to stay in that splits the difference between being close to the rink and accessible to the center of the city?
Any help would be appreciated. I've never gone to Euros before and am really looking forward to being the dumb American.

Welcome to meet us rude Europeans, you dumb American!
The tram from the rink to city centre is pretty comfortable, so it won´t be a problem.
I've merged the threads as I think you can find the answers to your questions here.
2008 Euros were the worst attended I've ever been to. I don't think you'd have any problems getting tickets when you arrive, but if you really want to buy them in advance and going on experience here the organisers will probably get back to you in their own good time.
Traditionally, ice dance has more often than not been the opening event at Euros.
Stayed at the Westin (next to the Mimara Museum) last time as it was the media hotel and really liked it. It was probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed for a competition. It was about a ten minute walk to the rink and ten minutes to Trg Ban Josipa Jelacic, the main square of Zagreb.
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.
PRLady, you're going!!?! OMG! {insert your real name} at Euros! You're not the only American. I just sent you a PM. I went to Euros 2002-2005 but I've been off since then (in 2005 we even got Louis to join us). Going with the same group I always went with, we've rented an apartment this time. But would love to meet up with you/join you etc. Seating is open in the arena

Yay for other dumb Americans! (Uh, don't forget CO Springs. I'm not sitting next to you during pairs.)
Thanks to everyone for help and suggestions, I have to make air arrangements this week (DC-Zagreb-Tel Aviv, not exactly the easiest route on a budget.) Hopefully can get there by SD time....and very much looking forward to meeting all the Euro FSUers there.

Ok I know PRLady... my jinx started at '99 Easterns junior pairs with Louis (you can ask him about that one). Then sitting in the front row when the Hartsells crashed out of a lift in practice at Nationals in 2001 with him bleeding all over, then I was in the front row in Pittsburgh when Tot/Mar went down... then our front row experience in 2007 CO Springs.
Do NOT watch pairs with me.![]()
All of you who are having problems getting back for your tickets - PMme ASAP.
As I am probably the only one living in Zagreb, I will find the information over the phone or will pay them a visit.
I haven't had any trouble with getting tickets since I haven't even tried yet... but I was wondering the same as PRLady, whether or not it'd be OK just to buy them when I get there. But then again I'd probably be really worried that something goes wrong and I won't get them after all... so maybe it's better to get them beforehand. I'll also send an e-mail to the organizers and see what happens.

I have bought them but it took me 1 month to get the answer and then 1,5 month to get the pro-forma invoice to pay it and one more month to get the invoice. So maybe they have to hurry up the routine.
It took me about one and half month to get the final voucher. At the very beginning they had server problem so it took me almost one month before getting any response. It also took around 1 week after the payment to get the voucher. Definitely not very efficient but seems working now.
Wow. Are they processing them with hand-written thank-you notes?![]()

Well my flights and hotel are all booked. (Fred, if the Westin is cruddy I will blame you, it's very cheap but nonrefundable.) Now it would be nice to know I can get a ticket but whatever.![]()

Looking at footage from Golden Spin I see hockey glass. Was this removed for the last euros? I hope it will be taken out...
It will be removed. They never seem to remove it for Golden spin or JGP, but for Euros it is taken off.
Hockey is so freakin' popular here in Zagreb at the moment. I wonder whether staters get the ice in the arena to practice or have to use the other smaller rink.
