Yeah, the tracker thing always made sense in theory but not in execution. I don't get how Johanna and the other rebels thought that this little jaunt would go unnoticed by the Gamemakers. Wouldn't it become instantly obvious that the tracker had left Katniss' body? Since it looked like Johanna was digging in there pretty deliberately, they would know that something was up. And it wasn't like Katniss instantly shot down the field afterwards; it was at least 10-15 minutes later; maybe longer. That would been more than enough time for the Capitol to be able to detect Thirteen's hovercraft in the area.

Anyway, the *only* explanation that I can come up with is that maybe trackers did go missing every now and then and the Gamemakers just dealt with it; I mean, what if a tribute hacks of another tribute's arm? No more tracker. They could have thought that Johanna did it on accident while she cut Katniss but yeah, it's a long shot at best.

Can I just say, though, how much I am looking forward to that crazy arena in CF? It's going to be crazy cool. Plus all the tributes except Peeta and Katniss will be adults, so there will be a completely different vibe. I think Johanna will be around 20 and we already know that Finnick is 24 (he won 10 years prior at the age of 14). And everyone else besides them is older.

I wish we'd gotten more of Johanna's backstory; she's a sympathetic character and I would have liked to learn more about her.

Well..."I Am Legend", not a great movie (though the ending mucking about wasn't his fault, test audiences couldn't handle the real ending apparently), "Constantine"....awful movie. Depends on how much those failed because of him and how much because of the writers....

I really liked the movie "I Am Legend"...but I haven't read the book so I've no idea how it compares.

Worryingly, he also directed Water for Elephants. I hated that movie but loved the book. Then again, it was horribly miscast - not necessarily the director's fault.

Well, again, it's not HIS fault, and IIRC at least one other movie version did the same hack job by basically getting rid of the original ending and entire point of the whole story,

that the main character realizes the "monsters" are actually intelligent, for example setting traps for him and the one attempting to rescue the other, and HE is the monster in their eyes and has been the 'bad guy' all along. If I remember correctly he kills himself on this realization.

OTOH, "Kings" wasn't bad.

Hated Water For Elephants and would never ever read the book. I feel this is the week the movie gets knocked off the number one spot. I guess it had to happen sometime. LOL

I read Water for Elephants and didn't like the book itself.

Just saw the trailers for the movie, and from those it seems the director has a vivid and fantastical visual aesthetic. That might work well for Catching Fire.

How about Anil Kapoor as Plutarch the new head game maker? He is one of Bollywood's biggest stars and could do wonders for the movie in the Indian subcontinent. Kapoor has been trying his luck this side of the ocean with mixed results. I personally would love to see him in the role of Plutarch. BTW... Am I the only one who's own evil side loved brainwashed Peeta asking Katniss and Gale if they were officially a couple yet? Or are they still dragging out the whole star crossed lovers thing. Then Joanna answers "still dragging". hehehe

My daughter wants Matt Boner for Finnick. Having now seen him on Glee, I understand where she's coming from.

I just finished reading the series today, and was going to pop in here and say that the entire time Finnick was "onscreen" that's who I was picturing as him. Though I admit, that's mostly due to the nonstop descriptions of how pretty he is.

I was also picturing Michelle Forbes as Coin while reading Book 3, so apparently I share a brain with some of you.

I've been listening to "Abraham's Daughter" far, far too many times for my own mental health. Also have completely memorized and can sing along to Carolina Chocolate Drops' "Daughter's Lament". I really need to stop.

(But I just bought the PERFECT dress for a showcase to "Abraham's Daughter" if we can just figure out what you could possibly dance to it and it's totally a 'girl on fire' gown....Yeah, I probably need professional help at this point.)
