Just last night I happened upon Waiting to Exhale on cable. She was the background voice of my 20's.
Such a sad end. Feel so sorry for her daughter.
Hope the Grammys find a way to honor her career tomorrow.

I know I shouldn't be that suprirsed, but I gasped when I saw the news greeting me when I logged on.
Her rep is the one who released the info. So, it's almost certainly true.

I saw a picture of her on Perez a couple nights ago and she looked rather drunk sadly... Such a sad end. She was one of the greatest voices I've ever heard... So utterly tragic... I'm in a state of shock...

Unbelievably sad
….
I was never a fan of her music, but she had an incredible voice, and her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the 1991 Superbowl still sends a shiver through me whenever I think about it.

Has it really been confirmed? MSNBC article simply says that the publicist said that Whitney had died. So it's still 2nd hand information at this point.
