A very interesting interview with Belita from the late 1970's on UKTV can be watched here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffxll8MqoMI

Fabulous skater, very underrated due to her lack of amateur credentials IMO.
ETA: She skates right at the end and despite her advanced years she lost none of her grace.

You're welcome. I thought the forward catch camel spin was a recent invention by skaters like Zhang to gain points under IJS, so I was quite surprised to see a utube video of Belita performing one.

Perhaps someone can dig up a video -- or I can this weekend.

Anyone know why Megan Taylor wasn't at the games? She was clearly a top skater at the time, taking bronze at euros a few wweeks earlier and then silver at worlds just a few weeks later.
This just says she did not make the team

thank you, I was looking for this
because I knew this was performed before
the charlotte like spin for the ladies pair

I am happy Davankova/Deputat are making this known again
and making it their signature pairs spin

She has a bit more flexibility in this version (or at least a higher leg extension) than did Natalia Mishkutenok,
and if they could maintain their rotation speed all the way through it would be perfect!!

Davankova is a flexible girl and hopefully they will work it even better
    Davankova/Deputat's spins are already fast

wasn't this the same spin credited as the " Natalia Spin " ?

I think so, yes.... at least according to wikipedia ( it's called "Natasha's spin in this article, so I'm a little too):

"One hallmark of Mishkutenok and Dmitriev's style was their creative spins, especially one in which Mishkutenok would do a split and point her head down,
    with an arm around Dmitriev's calf so that they were both vertical and aligned;
this signature move, called "Natasha's spin" was incorporated into virtually every one of their programs."

nice. I used to call this the inverted i spin

I hope with the help of Davankova/Deputat's programs
this will be reintroduce and this position will become popular in pairs
competitions like how it is with the death spiral.

Well, "death spiral" is a required element -- a whole category of element of which there must be one in every pairs program.

"Pair spin" is a required element (in alternating years), so there will always be some kind of pair spin in each program where it's required, but the specific variations are up to each team. We won't see any specific variation in every program, although if it's an easy way to gain a higher level we'll see it more than if it's too difficult or if it doesn't earn more points.

Michelle Kwan did a hands-free charlotte, but I can't think of any skater that has done the charlotte on an edge.

A little off topic but related -- is it possible to go right into a spin from a jump?

I have always called it Natalia spin because M&D first made it popular (although a Canadian pair had performed it first, as per Sandra Bezic). It was unique and exciting at that time, like Denise Biellman's Biellman spin. It's becoming too common now, with many pairs doing it, but M&D did it the best.

S/H do that spin as well so D/D won't be setting themselves apart by recycling Moskvina's old choreography. It's been done too many times to be innovative anymore. But others have done it better than Natalia, she had the worst position.

Yes! In my head this idea seemed neat, but I was not sure how it would really work. Thanks for sending the link.
