JCP is making so much publicity off this, I could almost believe they actually paid OMM to start the whole media circus.

Apparently One Million Moms shut down their Facebook page, so people are snarking on this page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/One-Mi...50223078397517

Um, hello? It should be a little difficult to confuse the two.

    Done!

    BTW, here's what I sent:

"Cudos for not bowing to the pressure from a small-minded minority who opposed your decision to use Ellen Degeneres as a spokesperson. In an age when so many corporations are crippled by fear, it's refreshing to see a company that lets right -- and common sense -- prevail. Thank you!"

Just received a reply back from JC Penny:

Our recent announcement, rooted in rich heritage, re-imagines every aspect of our business to become America's favorite store. We appreciate your feedback and are equally excited to partner with America's favorite host and former jcp associate, Ellen Degeneres, to help tell our story. Thank you for your feedback.

    Cordially,

A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

I got the exact same reply as mag. Not that I expected a "personal" reply of course -- and I'm guessing they're getting a lot of mail on this!

Funny, though, they could send almost the same form response to a negative/complaint letter!

I suspect they're sending the same message to everyone.

It took about 20 hours for a reply, and the automated message that came immediately after I sent my message said "up to 48 hours."

Thanks, sniff, I feel better. I'm really just kidding around, I don't need a response, I just wanted to give my support. Only reason to want a response is to be sure they got my email.

I sent an email yesterday and I also made sure to mention how much I hate their new commercial. I couldn't help myself.

So Ellen used to be a sales clerk at JC Penneys??

Which one, there are a few. There is one that cracks me up. It is a little girl holding a hoola hoop with a dog jumping back nd forth through the hoop. That is the whole comercial. It is hysterical.

How could you forget that there's also a walking across a high fence in the background!

I actually got a slightly different reply:

As we focus on being in sync with the rhythm of our customers' lives and operating in a 'Fair and Square' manner that is rooted in integrity, simplicity and respect, we couldn't think of a better partner than Ellen DeGeneres. We are extremely proud to have her on our team.
