Yankee Polka is one of the most awesome CDs.
We're gonna see a lot of trashy SDs and country bumpkin programs. It will be hilariously bad.
I'm actually somewhat excited by the prospect of this. I actually expect that a lot of teams will do really well with this. I think each SD will either be really good, or a complete trainwreck, though. I don't think there can be an in-between with this dance. That being said, I'm excited by the prospect of interesting music choices.
I personally think the Ukrainian polka version of "Hot N Cold" is better than the original. That is so bad it's Thanks for posting! Hearing that guy singing the lyrics is the best!! "You're ups then you're down..."

As long as Paul Porrier brings some of that fantastic level 4 chest hair like he did in the Latin SD at Canadians, I'm in.

What are your guesses for the 6 key points (3 per half of the dance)? I haven't a clue, really.Although the polka is a bouncy dance, the basic principles of stroking and effortless flow must be adhered to; the dance must not look labored, sloppy or somber.
I'm thinking probably the closed choctaw (both man and lady) will go for two of them, but what about the others.
Perhaps step 16 for both as the 3rd point for the first half (where not doing a rocker instead of an outside 3 will be key)?
In the second sequence,
steps 32-33 for the lady?
Maybe the wide steps in 45 - 47 for both?
Here's a Yankee Polka Compulsory instructional video as demonstrated by Usova and Zhulin, if people want to get a closer look at the steps and have some explanation to go along with them. I'm not sure where it comes from but seems pretty official.
I suspect like the GW, they will do one pattern, split in 2 pieces.
The U&Z video I believe is from a commissioned set of instructional ice dance videos? I think by the ISU, but it could be a federation??
I don't like the short dance but the yankee polka is a favorite cd. I hope one doesn't wreck the other. Tessa Virtue had a Yankee Polka cd dress that opened like an umbrella when she spun in 2007. That was worth first place by itself, and I'm not even taking into account the little braided buns at her temples.
Yes!!! Between the crazy costumes, somewhere I have photos of a team in red, white, and blue polka outfits, and the music (didn't someone find a polka version of Madonna for one of the folk ODs?), this should be a hoot.
Here are also some blasts from the past:
Davis & White
Hann-McCurdy & Coreno
Lots and lots of yankee polka photos And more!
those are some sleeves!

Integrating YP into SD will be so easy.

There you go, that's probably how 90% of the programs will look.
