That's faantastic! Yankee Polka was my favourite CD.
I miss the music from the CD's. Some of them were really catchy.
“What’s on the revengenda this evening?” – Nolan Ross
Yes, it will be great for the Shibs, but what about Weaver & Poje? That CD was created for SHORT people. Capellini & LaNotte do an incredible YP. W&P, not so much.
Definitely it will be interesting. I love this dance.
Question: will they have to do 2 patterns of Yankee Polka in SD?
I think I'm finding it worse this year than as it was with the waltz last here and am wondering if it will be difficult to extend or incorporate the YP.
Love the Yankee Polka! Was one of my faves from D/W.
MERYL DAVIS AND CHARLIE WHITE - 2014 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALISTS!
Wheeee! I've been wishing for a YP SD, but I wasn't sure it would happen. I actually expected them to go with the Finnstep next year. I'm really looking forward to next season's SD. I've never been a fan of the latin ODs/CDs/SDs anyway. I hope we get some polkas next year

I think the Polka could work better than the Rhumba as, like the Golden Waltz last year, it takes up more of the time allowed, and is much harder to just basically skate through. I don't think one single couple did the 2 sequences of Rhumba back to back, so you couldn't see who hadn't got the strength of edge and togetherness on the restart to have the same speed on the 2nd run through. It might have been better if they had made everyone use Rhumba music and style of dance all the way through like they did in 1994, when T&D did their memorable Rhumba OD.
I hope Alex Shibutani skates the Yankee Polka in Red Sox gear!
I think it will allow teams to be creative and not be criticized for not being "polka" enough. That's why I got tired of the Latin SD, because it was pretty narrow in style choices to be considered "latin".
i'm taking a look at the yankee polka and it seems interesting... hard and interesting.
The Massachusetts state polka
OTOH, the Connecticut state legislature "foiled the polka law" again.
(The Ballroom Polka)
Meanwhile (since this is fun for me), I find that Michigan has a Polka Hall of Fame, just prime for all the young Michigan dancers to explore
How can the Shibutanis fail to pick something called:
Happy Polka Music by Richard's Magic Accordion in Paw Paw, Michigan?
Virtue & Moir might be attracted to this polka
"Romantic Polka by Most Famous Superhero Gabriela Gzregorcz"
And Davis and White by
Bingoman Saves Polka Night (Polka From Hell)
or Highway to Hell Polka
Seriously, there are some very odd polkas out there.
