That's faantastic! Yankee Polka was my favourite CD.
I miss the music from the CD's. Some of them were really catchy.![]()
Stop, don't say that it's impossible, cause I know it's possible...
After sitting through all those dreadful Yankee Polkas in Hamilton, still you want more? You are one sick and twisted puppy, Miffy.
Yes, it will be great for the Shibs, but what about Weaver & Poje? That CD was created for SHORT people. Capellini & LaNotte do an incredible YP. W&P, not so much.
Free Amodio.
Definitely it will be interesting. I love this dance.
Question: will they have to do 2 patterns of Yankee Polka in SD?
I like it too, but I still don't care for the SD and preferred the CD and OD format. Having to integrate the set pattern and free skating continues to appear problematic to me in that it diminishes the strength of both. At best the free part ends up seeming like just an extension of the compulsory, it's the exception to the norm IMO for the opposite to occur, which I think would be the objective.
I think I'm finding it worse this year than as it was with the waltz last here and am wondering if it will be difficult to extend or incorporate the YP.
Love the Yankee Polka! Was one of my faves from D/W.

Wheeee! I've been wishing for a YP SD, but I wasn't sure it would happen. I actually expected them to go with the Finnstep next year. I'm really looking forward to next season's SD. I've never been a fan of the latin ODs/CDs/SDs anyway. I hope we get somepolkas next year

At least it will be better than listening to all the latin tracks this year. After sitting through the practice for SD in Sheffield, I couldn't face hearing all the music again in the evening and went to watch the men practice instead. The only good thing that came out of it was that very few couples used latin again for the free dances.
I think the Polka could work better than the Rhumba as, like the Golden Waltz last year, it takes up more of the time allowed, and is much harder to just basically skate through. I don't think one single couple did the 2 sequences of Rhumba back to back, so you couldn't see who hadn't got the strength of edge and togetherness on the restart to have the same speed on the 2nd run through. It might have been better if they had made everyone use Rhumba music and style of dance all the way through like they did in 1994, when T&D did their memorable Rhumba OD.
I hope Alex Shibutani skates the Yankee Polka in Red Sox gear!
I think it will allow teams to be creative and not be criticized for not being "polka" enough. That's why I got tired of the Latin SD, because it was pretty narrow in style choices to be considered "latin".
i'm taking a look at the yankee polka and it seems interesting... hard and interesting.
