Between 2001 - 2010, the number of gold medals won by North America, Asia, and Europe in figure skating at World Championships and Olympics was as follows:-

Europe - 27
Asia - 14
North America - 12
Others - 0

However, where will the balance of power lie by 2020? Who will have won the most Gold medals during the period 2011 - 2020?

Ice dance is still 25% of the medals and I dont see an Asian team winning a medal within the next 5 years...who knows? Things could change.

Geographically, Russia is in both Europe & Asia. The European part makes up 40% of Europe's entire land mass, and includes Russia's 2 largest cities - Moscow (which is now Europe's most populous city) and St. Petersburg. 78% of Russia's population lives in European Russia. For the purposes of figure skating, Russia is European. That is why it's skaters compete in the European Championships and not the Four Continents (in which Asian countries compete along with the Americas, Africa, and Oceania). Hence, in this poll, Europe means those countries that compete in the European Championships (which therefore includes Russia)

this is amazingly close considering
Europe - Russia, France, Germany, Misc. (lone "podium worthy" skaters from any/all of Ukrain, Italy, Bulgaria, Israel, Spain, etc...)
Asia - Japan, China..... maybe Korea
North America - USA and Canada
Others - people who won't even get close to the top ten, never mind win.

IKR? Actually, it's kinda surprising for me if any person doesn't know that, a figure skating fan or not. I know its geographical location might be a bit problematic, but come on, it's capital is in Europe and pretty much it's entire history revolves around Europe. It's orginins are European too.
