No point having "glorious deep edges" if you can't stay upright on them. Just saying.

A goodly number of regular newspaper columnists become hacks, especially when you have to make stuff up or stretch the truth to write the column/fill in the space. Phil Hersch is quite the hack himself.

That's most likely because he included more transitions in his program than usual.

Being at Sochi is a dream and one that I doubt will come true for Plush.

I saw jumps that weren't landed, falls, flailing of arms, 3 stoppages in a short period of time, a good looking three jump, more flailing of arms ...
    and then I got bored.
Transitions - meh. If those are what passed for transitions back then, it certainly won't pass for them now compared to the crop of skaters we have now.

    From 2004?

I think he was tired from the night before babysitting some of the younger skaters he's now beating.

(I do realize it's probably not the same people saying these things about Chan, but it still amuses me.)
The scores for Chan, Plushenko, Takahashi, Brezina, Joubert, Abbott, Gachinski, Kozuka, Fernandez and Amodio are all inflated.

Oh, I missed the two brackets, I only saw the spread eagle, so he has even more transitions than I thought. lolol

I remember reading a Lambiel interview where Lambiel quotes Mishin as advising him - when they were working together - not to move too much between technical elements because he would so lose his stability on the jumps. If other skaters took out some of their transitions, maybe it would be easier for them to jump. I for one wouldn't ignore Mishin's advice as he really seems to know everything about jumps in figure skating.

However, this audience here seems to be enjoying the skating of back then.

She didn't bother to read the paragraph-long announcement by the ISU granting Plushenko an exception for Euros and specifically pointing out that it didn't apply to Worlds.
