    Awesome news!

I would rather S/S do a huge 3FTh in the short and get high GOE for it then try a 4FTh in the free, they seem to get plenty of height for an extra rotation.

I don't see much of a battle between K/S and the Zhangs, K/S seem to have no trouble beating them in the GP this fall. The Zhangs can't even beat a error riddled P/T just a few weeks ago, I would be worried about P/T and that's if Smirnov is 100% by worlds. (fingers crossed)

I think an awful lot of people will be very happy to know that - thanks Eislauffan

I totally agree, that is why I said 'at this stage'. I know V/T are likely to get a lot better in time (and they're very good already!)

I do think it's great that S/S are always trying new things... I just hate it when it goes wrong!

But things like throw triple Axels and quads take time to master. If they want it consistent by Sochi now is the time to start.

I feel the same - heartbroken for whomever doesn't win. When figure skating's not on, I think VT are my favorite pair - when a competition is in process I see SS and while I'm watching I want them to succeed, without worrying vis a vis VT. It's gonna be tough.

    A. Savchenko told German TV injury to left thigh is getting better, but still cannot jump and do throws. Participation at ECh still open.

Pairs SP is, what, in 3 days time?!

Hard to see how she'll be able to do this.

    Regardless, get well soon Aliona!

It is not in PAris, it is in Sheffield, and it is a bit more than 3 days, but not much more.

    ^

no, she wrote Pairs SP not Paris

I agree , it will be really hard for Savchenko to get in full shape with just 3 days left before SP and to skate well maybe unlikely
maybe its best they let her body heal first like Smirnov ?

I hadn't looked in here before now because I thought it might have been a thread for a photo shoot or something that Aliona had done in Germany/Europe or a poster asking a question. Now I'm wishing this thread *had* been one of those.

At least if it had to happen, it happened now. Yes, it's pretty sucky to those of you who were going to Euros, but better Euros than two months from now and it being Worlds in Nice. Hopefully, they've got time to let it heal and then skate lights out at Worlds.

I also don't know what a rupture of muscle fiber in the thigh is, but it sounds awfully painful.

Fingers crossed and all the best to Aliona for a speedy recovery from this.

Savchenko/Szolkowy has withdrawn from competing at Euros
apparently their practice in Sheffield didn't do quite well with her injury

sad, I was hoping for another V/T and S/S face off..
hope for a quick recovery same for Kavaguti/Smirnov

looks like not that much competition here
battle for silver and bronze - Stolbova/Klimov might even medal

Aliona. I figured when Steur announced to the press she suffered an injury, it was significant. On to Worlds.

An opportunity for a Russian sweep if B/L and S/K step up.
