Congrats Phillip Humber of the White Sox for his perfect game!! Wow. That's pretty awesome!
I'm sure you aren't the only person doing Fantasy play feeling that way tonight Heather. They even mentioned something along those lines on our SportsCentre up here in their into to the clips of the game.

Regardless of how it ended, a Perfect Game is pretty darned impressive. Congratulations to Phillip Humber!!

As for ugly endings...It could have been worse. Just ask the Red Sox about having the Yankees on their heels in the middle of their game this afternoon 9-0 and ended up blowing it. Now that's an ugly ending to a game.

I didn't get to see the game. Or the Cliff Lee/Matt Cain duel.

What happened at the end of Humber's perfect game?

Full count, his last pitch would have walked the batter but Ryan couldn't check his swing. Pierzynski muffed the catch but had time to go get it and throw it to first - he wouldn't have if Ryan had run but he was arguing with blue about the swing.

I am getting seriously frustrated with the Angels. Yeah, it's early, but there's only so much you can take of your team losing before you start to hate them. This must be what Mets fans feel like. I should ask my dad.

The bullpen sucks because all of the decent pitchers were traded away and Santana tends to suck every other season so I'm not surprised by him, but the others have no excuse for being so bad. Don't even get me started on Scioscia. I thought it was a massive mistake to give him a 10 year contract.

I still have faith that they can turn it around, but I can still be disgruntled about the way they're playing.

Pablo Sandoval (aka Pandoval ) is out for six weeks with a broken....hamate? bone. He broke the one in his other hand last year.

The Giants called up Connor Gilaspie to replace him. Connor is from Omaha.

eta: So I won't be able to wear my Panda hat when I see the Giants in three weeks.

Cole Hamels was suspended for intentional plunking Bryce Harper and admitting it. I agree with this - I don't care if Hamels thought Harper was showboating, it just shows that Hamels lacks character. And yes, I would feel this way if Brian Wilson did the same thing.

And speaking of Giants, Guillermo Mota was just suspended for a 100 days for testing positive for PEDs a second time. Moron.

And apparently, Bryce Harper stole home after he walked to first on the hit by pitcher.

    WTF was Hamels thinking of?

Didn't like the cocky 19 year old apparently. I'm not the on the Harper bandwagon, but I did think it was some sort of poetic justice that he stole home. That was kind of sweet.

MLB tweeted (with video of Harper stealing home) What can't this kid do?

Logan Morrison (of the Marlins) replied: Buy beer.

My hubby's heart is broken, his favorite pitcher of all time (I tease him and call him his man crush) Mariano Rivera is most likely done for the season.

Mariano Rivera is the only Yankee that I like so I was bummed to hear about his injury.

My Reds are still hanging in there and starting to play some great baseball. Jay Bruce has been on fire and the other guys are all starting to hit again too. My next game is on Saturday and I'm hoping for a fun time at the ballpark. It's Joey Votto bobblehead night so I know that part will be awesome!

BTW-My fantasy baseball team is now in second place in my division! Started off slow but the guys have heated up lately. WOOT!
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Ervin Santana finally won a game. Miracles!

I'm glad my boys finally decided to start hitting. Gods, I'm soooo hoping for a repeat of 2002.

Well, at the moment, the post season isn't looking good. I think if they can make the play-offs, I will be pleased.

Timmy was vintage Timmy for the first three innings last night and then

    Le sigh.

Still hoping to see him pitch when I go out there next week to my Brian Wilson gnome, though.

So MLB Network pretty much shows only the Yankees, and ESPN can't get enough of the Rangers, apparently.

I'd like to see some of the 28 other teams....

Might not be worth it to you but MLB Extra Innings shows most games.

Joey Votto hit a walk off GS last night right in the middle of the awesome Once Upon a Time season finale. Life doesn't get any better than that for me, LMAO

No one talking about the ugly, ugly ending of the Jays game the other night? When the Home Plate Ump basically gave the Devil Rays the win by calling two very obvious balls strikes on Brett Lawrie in a one run game in the ninth inning. Then when he got called out, Brett threw his batting helmet to the ground and the way it bounced, it ended up hitting the umpire.

Now it's pretty obvious it was not intentional, but still can't do that to an Umpire. Brett apologized for it in the post game scrum, but we all knew he would be getting suspended. What shocked me is I really thought he'd get nailed w/a pretty long suspension, but Brett only got four games.

That to me speaks volumes on how MLB higher ups felt about the entire thing. No, you can't "attack" an umpire, but at the same time it was pretty obvious when looking at those two pitches they were no way, no how and in no known universe strikes. Not only that, but also pretty obvious Brett didn't intend to hit the guy w/his helmet and that it was just the way the thing bounced off the turf, but you still can't "attack" an umpire, so...

It wouldn't shock me in the slightest if that Ump's taken aside and given a bit of a talking to that no one finds out about unless it gets leaked. Someone doing a stunt like that in such a tight game does not serve the game or MLB well at all and brings up the specter once again of teams having Umpires in their "pockets". Just a huge mess all around.

And it almost got worse as some twit in the crowd decided to show his anger over the entire thing by throwing his glass of beer at the Umpire at the end of the game as the officials were all headed off the field. Hit him square in the chest too. Now thankfully people in the crowd were able to make sure that guy was unable to get to the Ump, and also to keep him there until the Police could get there and then escort the twit out of the Dome, but considering what the mood of the crowd was at that particular moment in time...

That one incident could have been the spark to something far worse. Things were ugly enough w/out something far worse happening.

And this just hit the various sites and Sports networks...
