By the way, there's a list of the top 25 film scores. Anyone interested in starting a thread on that topic?
AFI's 100 years of film scores
Nobody has mentioned the definitive showtunes program: 17yr old Irina skating to "Tits & Ass" from A Chorus Line in 1996. Complete with ghashly & garish marabou fur adorned costume. (Inspired by Oksana's Oly Lp dress, only not as horrible.)
We attended a show in Philly back in October 1998 called "A Skaters' Tribute to Broadway." IIRC, Robin Cousins skated to a song from "Rent" called something like "My Arms Will Cover You." Sorry, I'm not really familiar with the show (except for the song "Seasons of Love"), so someone, please help me out with the exact title if you're familiar with the song and show.
@ the first Caesars' Tribute to the Golden Age of US Figure Skating (December 2010), several skaters skated to part of "If Ever I Would Leave You" (from "Camelot"). They included Tai Babilonia, Tenley Albright, Richard Dwyer, Brian B. Jojo Starbuck (I think), Linda Fratianne ... unless I'm confusing that part with the part of the program that Brian & Mr. Dwyer did together before the ladies joined them. Have to go back to my recording of the show ...
It was called I'll Cover You:-

And here it is from the film:-

^ Yes, that's it! Thanks for the link! That was an awesome show, BTW. Many highlights from that show - Caryn Kadavy skated to "Take Back Your Mink" from Guys & Dolls.Klimova & Ponomorenko skated to the Carousel Waltz from Carousel - just lovely!

Two great performances of his classic program:

Well Robin Cousins ended up singing and dancing in musicals on stage, so I guess you could say it inflenced him.
I don't know if this qualifies, "Defying gravity" from Wicked:

I don't know those skaters but the "double death spiral" at 2:34 is pretty cool. So is the move at 2:46.
Can't find any good vid that does the musical justice though. Too bad, because that song is the best part of the show IMO.
OT: Rachel Tucker's the best Elphaba ever![]()
That's one of the first I though of as well. Dorothy also skated to One Rock and Roll Too Many from Starlight Express. So did Jill Trenary.
Fiddler on the Roof was part of the interesting musical medley Claudia Leistner skated to at 1987 Worlds.
Sweet Charity? Here's Katarina Witt at 1987 NHK complete with uber tacky costume.
Both Peggy and Dorothy skated to Jane Olivor's version of Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific
From the musical Fame: Torvill and Dean win their first Worlds
And from Flashdance: Claudia Leistner 1989 Worlds Gala complete with world class wedgie.
And Dorothy Hamill, 1987 World Pros. Lovely.
Underhill and Martini skated beautifully to On My Own from Le Miz.
I know Katarina Witt skated to the German version of On My Own around 1989, but I can't find a vid of it.
Dorothy Hamill skated to Getting to Know You from The King and I at the 1996 Postal Service Challenge. Couldn't find it on youtube.![]()

Katarina wowed everyone with "I Am What I Am" from La Cage Aux Folles.
I wish someone would skate to Cyd Charisse's "Broadway Rhythm" music from Singin' in the Rain (without the cigarette, of course!) Sasha Cohen or Joannie Rochette could probably do a number to this quite effectively.
Way back in '86 I saw Brian Boitano skate an exhibition to The Wiz.
Not to mention Brian Boitano skating to
"What Would Brian Boitano Do" from the South Park Movie.
Kurt Browning 2002 also skated to it as part of an ad for SOI (as an Improv) It's at the end of the following clip.
