But cannot wait to see the LP, and so happy for Jeremy!
But cannot wait to see the LP, and so happy for Jeremy!
Update on Jeremy's stepfather in San Jose as of last night: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_19856121
"What is important is I am doing well," said the host of a Saturday morning jazz show in Denver. "The real story is Jeremy Abbott. I'm just a hiccup."
...
Scott plans to watch his stepson compete next month at the prestigious Four Continent Championships in their hometown of Colorado Springs, Colo.
I watched on television. I didn't notice anything going on in the stands, but I definitely heard it. Between the fan calling out during Nagasu's FS and the commotion during Abbott's FS, I was wondering what was going on with security at the arena. It's a good thing Abbott, at least, was able to keep his concentration.
Vagabond, the "fan" who always "calls out" before Jeremy skates is his stepfather, Mr. Scott.
Now that I know that, it doesn't disturb me at all!
Jeremy's concentration would probably be disturbed if he didn't hear that.
I'm so glad to hear Mr. Scott is doing fine!
I was there live, in the upper levels, and I didn't notice anything. I was too entranced by Jeremy's program.I was over the moon that he skated it well!
I was there just four rows behind the family.
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.
I always knew Jeremy was quite musical and had great dance ability, but for some reason, I never really realized how good he was until this week. The way he moves with the music is incredible, and his choreography is 3x that of the top ice dance teams. The pause in his LP straightline step sequence this year has to be one of my favorite moments in a program ever. He's just so easy to watch. This is COP done right, IMO.
After watching Jeremy at the nationals last weekend, I have become an uber fan. His LP performance was magical.
I was so glad that Jeremy aced both programs at Nationals! He was wonderful, and I hope he aces his programs at 4CC and Worlds.
USFS just tweeted that Jeremy withdrew from 4CC. Hip injury. Dornbush going instead. I hope the injury does not force Jeremy from Worlds too.

"Marge, if you're going to get mad at me every time I do something stupid, then I guess I'm just going to have to stop doing stupid things!" - Homer Simpson in the Mr. Plow episode
I was just showing his programs to a friend and talking about how amazing he was when I saw this post pop up in my inbox.
Really hope he recovers fully and is ready for Worlds.
The bad part about the injury this late in the season is he is going to lose valuable practice time, even if he does heal by worlds. Not sure how much time he is going to miss, but if it is something like 2 weeks, that's huge when you are that close to worlds.
Get healthy soon, Jeremy!
Heal quickly, Jeremy!
After all he went through to get there, it would be a shame if he missed Worlds.
I'm sure that he will be there, if at all possible.
This Detroit Free Press article mentions "back spasms that have also affected his right hip": Jeremy Abbott withdraws from Four Continents Championship due to back spasms
"Thankfully, it's not a major injury -- his back sort of spasmed up a bit," Sato said Friday night. "I think it's from a stressful couple of weeks. We don't think it's the smartest thing to push him and make him skate in Colorado Springs. We should rest his back and get him ready for worlds."
Sato said Abbott's back has tightened up in the past, a condition that's usually brought on "only when he's really tired."
She said that Abbott will likely still travel to Colorado Springs next week to undergo a physical at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Sato said he also wants to visit his family
On the IceNetwork broadcast, you can see the security people in the front row turn around, right about the time of J's triple axel. ETA: It's actually during the first spin. Manleywoman and I were coincidentally sitting a few rows behind the Abbott-Scotts with other friends. It was a tad difficult to concentrate on the program, with worrying about Allen, so it's been a pleasure to be able to obsessively watch it online. The audience reaction was massive--this program is cerebral, but people "get it". I'm so happy that he's getting the component scores he's deserved for years.
A small hint of what a wonderful family this is: the quote in the local paper from Allen Scott that his health was "merely a hiccup...the real story is Jeremy Abbott."
