    Tom Dickson

What has happened to Tom Dickson?? For several years he was choreographing many of the skaters from Co Springs area, including many of Tom Z's skaters. It seemed that lately Tom Z has taken over choreographing most of the programs. Was there a falling out? Has he stopped doing choreo?

I hope he is still around and working with skaters. I LOVED what he did for Matt Savoie. I'll be sad if he has stopped.

    Anyone know?

Not sure exactly what Tom Dickson is doing currently, but I haven't heard that he isn't choreographing anymore. Hasn't he done choreography for skaters this season? (OK thanks hlp728, I saw your response after I posted). Perhaps Tom has worked on choreo for skaters on levels other than senior this season. There may be others here more in the know. Maybe Sarah and Drew could do a feature on Tom for their Inside Edge blog.

I love the choreo Tom did for Matt and Jeremy!

I don't think it's under Gachinski's skin yet, and he's been struggling with some of his jumps, but I love that program.

Dickson currently coaches Alexander Johnson who will be at 2012 US Nationals in Senior Men & Novice Pairs. From Johnson's October 2011 journal on his official site:
I am now taking full time from Tom Dickson, who is also my choreographer, and couldn’t be happier. He is so inspiring to work with on a daily basis and has helped me tremendously in the three short months that I’ve been working with him. I’m also working with Catarina Lindgren (Tom’s wife), Christy Krall and Erik Schulz part time.

My programs this year are probably the best programs I have ever had! My short program is to “O Mio Babbino Caro” and I absolutely love it. I have wanted to skate to this music for years and when Tom Dickson brought it in for me to listen to, I immediately knew that was it! It’s such a calming piece of music and really reflects who I am as a skater. My long is to music from the ballet, “Gayane” and it’s a very strong yet beautiful piece.
ETA: Dickson choregraphed one of McKinzie Daniels' programs this season (I assume the FS). Daniels is coached by Tom Zakrajsek and will make her Senior Ladies' debut at Nationals.

He was a wonderful skater; and is a terrific choreographer/coach.

If you haven't listened to manleywoman's interview with him, you've missed something:

Interesting that Alex Johnson has left Tom Z also. Who does Tom Z still have as skaters in the senior ranks?

Glad to see that Tom Dickson still is around and seemingly doing well . He was not anywhere to be seen at the last couple of Nationals that I observed. For many years you would see him in the K&C and at the practices, but not last few years.

Thanks for the replies. Dickson has always been one of my favorite choreographers. Looking forward to seeing him at Nats!

ITA, especially the programs Tom created for Ryan, Matt, and Jeremy.

Found the below on youtube--clip of Catarina Lindgren (at the beginning) and Tom Dickson (at around 4:38) skating solo performances with Ice Capades in 1985.

Yuna's El Tango de Roxanne is also choreographed by Tom. I wonder if Yuna'll approach him re refinement and revival of the program!
