((((Bailey)))). I've been there, and I still can't really talk about it. It's good that you can.

Here's the one piece of advice I wish someone had given me. Your grief is not likely to move in a straight line. It will be more like the stock market - up some days, down some days, stable some days. There will be times you may be fine for days or even weeks, and then out of the blue, it hits. The strangest things can trigger it.

With a disease like cancer, the initial feeling can often be one of relief. No one has to suffer (or watch someone suffer, which IMO can be worse) anymore. The sadness of the situation can sneak up on you once the relief has worn off.

Please take care of yourself and also keep a watchful eye out for your relatives. Make sure your dad sees a doctor for a check-up within the next month or two. This type of an emotional trauma can have all kinds of physical effects. Make sure he's staying active/busy, too.

Not sure if your mom's parents are still alive, but the same goes for them, maybe even moreso.

2011 has been the worst year of my life for many of the same reasons, and I'm with you in waiting for 2012 to begin and bring some better luck!

I'm sorry, Bailey. Your being there, along with your family, in her final moments must have been a great comfort to her. I hope the memory of the love you shared will bring you peace in the days to come.

That's very true; it's exactly what I experienced when I lost my dad.

Bailey - I am so sorry for your loss.

It was strangely, the most tragic and the most beautiful thing that has ever happened in my life.
I consider the fact that I was able to be with both of my parents when they passed, an incredible blessing in my life. The fact that you were able to share that time, and the love that you feel, will be a source of comfort for you.

    Be good to yourself.

    Bailey, my deepest sympathy.
On Nov. 22, it will be two years since my mother's passing.

May the good memories you have bring you ,and your family, comfort in the days ahead.
