    Ice Follies of 1939 Questions

If this should be in the Trash Can instead, sorry about this, as I wasn't sure...

I stumbled across this on TCM earlier this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Then again, I usually do love Jimmy Stewart, so...Anyway, just as it was getting to the end, I had to go and check our Woodstove and...

By the time I got back, the movie was over!!!

    Here's the questions...

Who were the skaters who took part in this? Was this one of the movies that Carol Heiss took part in?

    And...

Is this out on DVD yet?

    Thanks in advance!!

This should answer some of your questions:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031470/fullcredits#cast

I don't know what other skaters might have appeared uncredited.

Carol Heiss was born in 1940, so no.

Ahh, yes... MGM's lame attempt to cash in on Sonja Henie's box office popularity. I have that movie on tape, from when Joan Crawford was the TCM Star of the Month some years back.

Go to www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Data Base) for the answers:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031470/fullcredits#cast

It shows Eddie and Roy Shipstad and Oscar Johnson, as themselves. It also lists the "International Ice Follies" as themselves.

Looks like it could be a fun movie over Thanksgiving weekend.
    Happy Skating!

I bought the DVD a year ago from amazon.com, so it is indeed commercially available.

Yes, it is out on DVD in the TCM Vault collection - which lets one order obscure movies, stocked in very limited editions or possibly even made on demand, from MGM, Warner Bros., RKO and other studios now having product marketed under Warner Home Media.

Frau Muller beat me to it, and Amazon's price is better as well.
