Andy's retirement was definitely short - he signed off on 60 Minutes on October 2nd and he is now dead according to this CBS news story: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_16...ey-dead-at-92/

Wow. RIP Mr. Rooney
My Life Would Suck Without FS-You
RIP Andy Rooney.
He was hospitalized last week and had surgery. RIP Mr. Rooney, although, he wouldn't want anybody giving him a lot of attention.![]()
Your program sucks and your partner just fell: lay down and play dead or think Feck this and do a Th3A at the end of the program: Aliona Savchenko: Definition of a competitor
Sad news. I enjoyed his work on 60 minutes and looked forward to guests spots.
Love Andy and 60 minutes and thanks for all the many decades of excellent work Andy. R.I.P.
"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."
Article from his home-town paper. He was an Albany, NY native.
It seems a lot of iconic people retire and then pass away rather quickly. Steve Jobs was another. IIRC, Charles Shultz retired and then passed away the day his last installment of "Peanuts" appeared in newspapers.
RIP Mr. Rooney
RIP Andy.
Wow...That was fast in terms of time.
May he rest in peace.
Another sad passing.
RIP, Mr. Rooney.
You had a long and successful life.
I always enjoyed his segment from 60 Minutes. So sad to hear this. Thank goodness he had a long life. I have one of his books of anecdotes. I definitely will be rereading that book.
RIP, Andy.
Well most people don't retire at 92. He had 27 years when he could have enjoyed retirement, but he chose not to.
Which is the the headlines that accompany these articles that report on this statistic (people dying soon after retiring) are kind of silly. They say things like: Want to live longer? Don't retire! when the reality is that a lot of people retire when they are no longer well enough to work and it's no surprise they die soon after.
Every time you say something stupid on the internet, Tim Berners-Lee punches a kitten.
RIP. He lived a good life. He entertained us.
