Apparently Detroit residents also protested when the Rolling Stones were selected so I think it comes down to only wanting Detroit artists playing at their Thanksgiving half-time show. And their petition only has about 11,000 signatures on it which is nothing in this internet age when anyone can sign a petition with just a few clicks.
Delete. Wrong Thread.
There are more then just Em, Kid, Teddy. We have Mitch Ryder, The Rockets, Aretha, and many others who still make Detroit area their home. I think they just want to show some Detroit pride. Lord knows after the city and county government we could use it.
What...no Kwame singing the Jailhouse Blues?
"awwww....shades of Janet Lynn" - Dick Button on anyone who makes more than one mistake in their program.
It's kind of like having Elton John at the Harley 100 year anniversery.
Well, I am a college student. I've heard a lot of her stuff. I even bought the CD with Bad Romance on it; I just didn't realize that there would only be 1 other track worth listening to on it. I'm also quite confused as to why she is touted as being original. All her songs are quite overtly derivative, like that one Ace of Base ripoff or the gay anthem that was a direct Madonna ripoff.
I don't rag on her like I would Nickelback because I think she has a crapton more talent and she can actually sing. I just find it sad that she won't do what she's capable of. Though the 'Lady Is A Tramp' recording is a definite step in the right direction!
I also plain just don't listen to the radio anymore unless it's NPR.
Hating Nickelback has become a National pastime for anyone in Canada who does not own an Ed Hardy shirt. And for our fervent protests of their popularity, we've been awarded the esteemed privilege of listening to them at the 2011 Grey Cup Half-time show.
There's speculation on Twitter that this is simply a test to see how many people actually turn their televisions off between the second and third quarters of the game.
