Can't skate but love to watch
At last a schedule. Now the real travel planning begins.![]()
Janet, are you from Europe? Here in the US, searching bags for food and weapons is the norm. Cleveland nats was the worst. They wouldnt even let me bring in my chain that held my wallet to my beltloop. I will say that at the last Nats they would let us bring in food and drink as they didnt want to open up too much of the vendors early in the week. And no metal detectors.....
As a Londonite, I can say that you can usually sneak food into the JLC no problem, as long as you are not stupid about it, and make it obvious. The Covent Garden market across the street is amazing, there are so many great options to choose from and you can even eat healthy fare if you choose. Just watch the hours of operation and make sure you go across before it closes in the evening.
I've never had a problem bringing in food to events in Canada, except the Olympics of course.
In Quebec City 2007 the ticket taker held my (outside) coffee while I rummaged through my bag for my ticket, lol. (Mind you, this was at morning practice.) I've brought in food at many Canadian competitions, but it's best not to be obvious about it. I've never actually had a bag searched, but carrying food or drink in plain view is tempting fate.
At both Cdn Nationals in London, I brought in my own food and water from home, fresh spring rolls and other finger foods from the Covent Garden Market, all hidden in my bag. However, my Tim Horton's tea was confiscated at the door on day 1 so I didn't bother trying again after that.

I have never been able to master the art of bringing coffee into an arena without being obvious about it. And don't say bring a thermos!
Unfortunately a Tim Horton's cup is WAY too obvious!I just bit the bullet and bought arena hot choc if I wanted something warm (or sometimes fries
)
Starting to get pretty excited....got an email from the Worlds 2013 website and they have a countdown clock, 177 days!
The Contigo thermal mugs ( sold at Costco Canada) are terrific for events.
You can make the coffee in your hotel...fill the thermal mug and throw it in the bottom of your backpack or even bag...and it never spills...stays hot for hours...plus you get to have your favourite coffee and not the local take out.
For anyone who is interested - the single event tickets go on sale Oct 10 at 10:30 EST.
