That's where we stayed, too. And now I do remember the concessions being closed - we used the enclosed walkway to go to the food court in the mall. There was also an usher standing next to me who wouldn't stop talking during the senior ladies' FS. I finally just told him to be quiet. But the skating was great!

I am also staying out by White Oaks Mall for Worlds. I'm not sure what I'll do for transportation yet. Sometimes, even if there is a shuttle/bus it's not ideal, so I will go with the flow. In Greensboro NC, we took the shuttle to/from the Sheraton, but had to walk up a scary hill, in the dark, past a strip club every night to get to our hotel. From what I saw online, there is a XXX massage parlor in front of our London accomodations. I guess I just can't get away from the seedy element!

Well, in your travels, if you happen to see a "massage parlor" by the Travelodge, please let me know. Any insider information is much appreciated!

If there is one there, I definitely will be stearing clear. I hope and assume it's a relatively safe area, regardless of any businesses that may be located there.

The only hotel that's beside a strip club is the Econolodge on York Street. Unfortunatley I know this because it's near my neighbourhood. I know there are some people booked at this hotel because it is one of the Dash Tours choices but I live here & I sure wouldn't stay there!

All of the hotels on Wellington near White Oaks Mall are good choices, safe and right on a busy bus route. You should be able to be to the downtown area in about 20 minutes on the bus.

Yeah, I "walked" by there using google street view. It didnt look like a fun neighborhood.

BTW, If I am reading the bus schedule right, it is a thirty minute ride by bus from the mall, with the stops, and a 15 minute drive by cab.

The hotel situation is truly ridiculous. Was able to get some of the managers/reservationists inform me that essentially Skate Canada booked out most of the hotel rooms in proximity. It still baffles me why such a tier "C" (I'm being generous) city was chosen for an event which presumably there would be some pride in presenting as a Worlds. Vancouver. Calgary. Uh ... what?

The calibre of hotels and limitations are a reflection of the view being taken by the hosts towards fans. Quality.

A gentle reminder for those flying into London. United Airlines just changed my flight from Chicago to London, giving me a five minute layover in Chicago. They did not e-mail me about the change. I have learned to check the status of my flights over time. I told other friends who are going and they went "YIKES, they did it to me too. " We all changed at least one, and in some cases two legs....Why is this important when more changes are probably on the way? Because about a month out, you can call them up and say, "Gee, you changed me three times, can I have a free change?" And you can get even better flights at the last minute, for free. I have done this little trick twice now. With the air traffic going into London changing dramatically for Worlds, you can expect more changes....I check with Unitied about every two months....

I don't have my flight for Nationals yet, much less Worlds. I think I'm flying into Detroit anyway. It's non-stop from here and so much cheaper than Canadian airfare.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Why do you need a place to stay if you're not going to World's?

If you are attending Worlds, most of the rooms have been taken by tour groups. You may want to do this. As the World's gets closer, rooms may free up if the groups don't need them. The other option is getting a room outside of London and commuting in. Good luck.

Friends asked me to help them to find hotels, inns or any kinds of place to stay. As you said, most of the rooms near the ice rink was taken already....

    Anyway, thank you!

To those that have been to the Labatt Center - how is the upper bowl?
I attended 2006 Calgary Worlds and was 4th Row in the Upper Section and it was not bad. Arenas vary. So?? Thanks.

Would it be much laboring to commute from Toronto for like five days? I'm planning to get a seat for 3 pack which I know has to be hurried now that most of good ones are taken already. I've got relatives and friends who live in Toronto so there I might get a easy ride to London if I borrow or rent a car. It takes about what, two hours, right?

yes it would be very labouring because of the terrible congestion and traffic.. unless you left at dawn or dusk.. any other time the traffic is brutal..

there really isn't a bad ticket at the Labatt Center - unlike the huge stadiums where you need binoculars to see a stage or ice - this is much smaller and the upper bowl also has a great view..
