Quality Inn across from White Oaks Mall is now taking reservations by phone only. Right now they are only serving a cold free breakfast but the front desk person told me they are in line to be updated to a hot free breakfast. But they dont know when. Glad to here about a shuttle buss. The mass transit buss would be overloaded and it only runs about every half hour going north, IIRC. Mass transit Buss systems are funny. Sometimes, like in Spokane, they do whatever it takes... sometimes not.

The shuttle bus mentioned in the DASH ads is just for members of the tour. At GPF in QC there were 2 buses available for tour members, and at Cdn Nats there was a van.

There may be other shuttles available for hotel guests who are not part of DASH tours, however. Whether they are laid on by the hotels or SC, I couldn't guess. Although I can't see SC spending money like that!

A group taxi sounds like the best idea.

I have found that even if there is a shuttle buss, it can be anywhere from $25 to $100 for the week. If you do have skating buds at your hotel that like to arrive and leave about the same time, a taxi for four miles shared wouldnt be a bad idea. A number of times, a taxi guy will give your his/her card and ask that if you want special service, just call them and they will plan to be in the area when you need them....beats waiting in line for the shuffle bus in the cold. Another reason to make sure your cell phone works in Canada, eh?

Hmm, I'd read about the all-event tickets available only until the 16th, but wasn't sure what was happening next since it was too soon for individual tickets -- looks like they're trying out an inbetween package --

Londoners were reminded that all-event tickets will only be on sale until March 16th. The next release of tickets, bundled into three-session packages will be on sale as of the 17th. Not at all....they are just installing the portapotties in the main concourse, next to the food stands....

Interesting that they have come up with a new option for tickets. Has this ever been done before? Since the “flex-pack” option was not mentioned earlier , I wonder if ticket sales (to date) have been below expectations and this is a way to encourage people to buy now instead of waiting to buy individual tickets closer to the event?
I really cannot see how there will be enough hotel space. On the London Worlds website, they are listing hotels with space that *totals* 283 rooms in London and another 254 outside London (as far away as Sarnia!! ). A *mid-size* hotel in a city is about 200-300 rooms. Everything else is presumably booked. And we are one year out, so federations, media, etc. will presumably not know their delegations for 2013. Worlds 2012 hasn’t happened yet!

There seems to be some controversy brewing. The city government in London seems to be divided over spending $600,000 for a sound and light show to be held during Worlds. Some folks think this is a waste of money, especially since there have been cutbacks in the city budget for other things like affordable housing. Now Skate Canada is weighing in…

Just going to add...thompson's comments about the light show (or something similar) being essential for a "complete fan experience" is , coming from the folks who gave the fans outdoor portapotties in December at the GPF

Where is this light show supposed to be? In the rink? for 1/2 million dollars? No wonder the council and taxpayers are a little balky. And what would they use it for after this? Hockey?

The light and video show would involve a giant projection system and a 15-minute video display with an original musical score.

I didn't use the portapotties at GPF - wasn't even there. But others in this thread were. I just found it ironic that SC thinks a light show is important, when they haven't been able to adequately provide more basic services.

On the Quebec City portapotties subject, I understood that this was made necessary when a different arena had to be used for the event. It was not part of the original plan.

Yep, at worlds in Torino two years ago if I remember correctly there was a "weekend pack" where you could watch the friday, saturday and sunday events at a price lower than the single tickets.

My seats were on the opposite side of the arena, and when there wasn't much time between events, going around to the other side of the arena (with the indoor restroom) wasn't an option. I only went once outside and then planned better!
