Does anyone who knows the area have hotel recommendations? Am thinking of booking a couple of nights in case I end up getting some single event tickets.

I'd like hotel recommendations too. If we can get single event tix for 2-3 days, husband and I am thinking about driving up to NYC, staying over with friends, then roadtripping with the friends to London with a stop at Niagara Falls. So we'd have a car.
I think I will have a snack and take a nap before I eat and go to sleep.

Expedia shows lots of name brand hotels on Dundas St. They are all withing walking distance of the John Labatt arena. Prices range from $80 to $130 a night.
Executive Suites at the low end, Delta Armouries at the high end and Holiday Inn Express in the middle.

Delta Armouries and Holiday Inn Express, yes. Executive Suites is a no.

For others close to downtown try the Hilton or Station Park Inn on Richmond St.

Also try down Wellington Rd. S. There's everything from Days Inn to Hampton to Ramada x 2, to Holiday Inn, Sheraton, etc. Hotel parking here is usually free. There's a good bus that takes you downtown, 1 block away from Labatt Centre.

Alixana, I have a couple of questions you may be able to help me with.

I have a reservation at the Country Inn (Baseline and Wellington So.) It's less than a km from the JLC but I'm not sure if there are sidewalks to walk on. Do you know?

Also, what bus runs from Wellington Rd. So. To JLC? Better yet, do you know of a London transportation website I can check out? So far, I've not had luck in finding this info. Thanks.

The Wellington bus would take you downtown (I believe that's the 13). It would drop you within a couple of blocks of the JLC. The LTC website is as follows:

Yes there are sidewalks all along Wellington, from Baseline right through the downtown core. However, that's a fair hike, especially in the cold.

I've actually booked a one room suite there and have stayed there before for a training camp a couple of years ago - its a fairly new hotel and it was clean and nice.. I drive so not an issue heading to JLC - but not sure about buses - but you could walk as well I guess.. For those wanting a one bedroom suite the price won't be beaten for the value.. they haven't blocked off their rooms yet..
Thanks to PI .. I discovered I'm actually a Nontheist

Yes it's the # 13. I've walked from Baseline to downtown and it was about 20-30 mins depending on how fast you walk and the state of sidewalks. When there's lots of snow, sidewalks may not be as clear as they should be.

Thanks Alixana and luckiest1! Snow notwithstanding, the walk sounds very doable. I try to walk to the arena as much as I can during Worlds to counteract all my sitting and unhealthy eating.

Thanks for the tip beebee- I've booked at the Country Inn too- it seems to be the only place accepting reservations this early. I may change it later if I can, but at least it's a decent place to stay and I have a guaranteed place if nothing else comes along. One less thing to worry about.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

With prices being what they are for tickets, I think I may try day trips since I live about an hour away from London (and I live in the area of Ontario that usually gets less snow than London -- I call it the banana belt of Ontario ) Maybe one overnighter if one evening ends later than I think I'm capable of driving. Staying multiple nights and going to all the events just isn't in my buget at this time.

Normally practice passes are for all event ticket holders only.

I don't see any hotels having eligiblity to book this far in advance. Are you people with reservations calling the hotel directly to book?

The only one I could find was the Country Inn on Baseline. That's why I booked there- to at least have a place for now. But it looks okay anyways, and the rates are quite good.

Plenty of reasonable hotel rooms left and a proper international airport in Nice. Just saying.

Forgot that I had posted this over a month ago...Thanks, all, for the hotel recs! Am going to check out the Hilton and the Hampton, as I am an HHonors member through work travel and may be able to use or get points.
I am assuming single event tickets won't go on sale until the fall?

I heard at the GPF that a lot of the rooms were booked. So we booked something - I think Holiday Inn Express the moment we came back. Apparently there will be special buses to take one to the rink but I dont know if that open to regular janes like myself.

Hope to get tickets for the event.
