    RIP Dan Wheldon

So sad to watch the Indy Car race today from Las Vegas when on lap 13 Dan died.. we met him last year at Watkins Glen and enjoyed watching him race and win at the Indy 500 this year. One of my hubbies favourite drivers died again

What driving talent he had, to have been Indy 500 winner twice, the second at age 33 or 34 this year.

What a terrible tragedy! I am not into car racing at all, so I was not familiar with Dan Wheldon, but I saw the news on TV this afternoon and felt sad for him and his family. Auto racing is a dangerous sport, but we rarely hear of fatalities in it. On TV they showed that the race was canceled/stopped and all the drivers did 5 laps as a tribute to Dan. Everyone seemed to be in a shock- naturally.

    RIP Dan Wheldon.

What a horrible story and a reminder of how dangerous racing is. RIP to a great champion.

What a terrible way to go and he was so young. RIP

I really hope his wife wasn't there watching.

I've never liked auto racing, and this is a big reason why.

Here is an article from CNN:

It's ironic that he wanted to make it safer.

We had just tuned into the race when the accident happened. I do hope that IZOD takes a long, hard look at how the number of cars on this small "bullring" track contributed to this accident and Mr. Wheldon's death. Many drivers had expressed concern for their safety before the race began.

Dan Wheldon leaves a wife and two children under the age of three. How sad for this young family that he's gone.
