I think Meryl and her mum work on the designs but the actual sewing is done by someone in the Canton area. As for the Bollywood costumes, I read in the one article both her and Charlie's costume were authentic Indian celebration clothing that they bought and had modified. The details were amazing. I remember thinking that Meryl deserved a medal for just keeping her balance in those earrings!

Joannie Rochette's costumes were always breath-taking. Anyone know who does Mirai Nagasu's dresses?

According to icenetwork Mirai's biography says "Costumes designed by Tina Allapach and Cecille Phillips" in 2012 season.

Who has designed Alissa C's dresses? It says for 2012 season she is using Jef Billings.

Also, does anyone know who designed/made Summersett/Gilles OD and FD costumes in 2010? I especially like Jane's Peruvian dress and Todd's FD suit.

Cecille does most of Mirai's stuff, and she does a great job with everything she does. I've been using her since I started back skating, and we're actually working on my outfit for upcoming events/competitions.

I definitely recommend her if anyone is looking for a good designer in SoCal.

Bumping this up. I hope someone asks Alissa Czisny who designed her new SP dress. It's amazing. Some on Twitter did not like the back or the belt but I loved it all.

And my daughter has not stopped talking about Meryl Davis' purple FD dress and mask hairclip. If either were available for purchase, I'd have a tough time not buying them!

I kind of feel that Meryl's costumes are becoming a bit young for her. Alissa looked lovely, but then she usually does.

I wasn't thrilled with Carolina's dress. That program calls for something darker and maybe more dramatic, IMO.

Yes, the Countess conceals her identity behind a mask. I'm pleased that they incorporated the mask into Meryl's outfit that way.

Surprised no one has mentioned Jan Longmire, she has made some of Sasha's dresses and one for Yu Na and does Andrew Gonzales' costumes.

Some of her dresses for Sasha:

    Andrew Gonzales:

She also recently designed her daughter's wedding dress.

And another fun fact: Keegan Messing's mom draws up the ideas for his costumes and they are then sent off to their designer (forget who, it's a company). They then send her some designs back and she sends back what her and Keegan like and voila!

I am the one against the belt LOL and someone I follow hates the back, but I LOVE the back.

Did Abdulaeva design Yagudin's "Winter" and "Rachmaninov" costumes? I thought both were stunning; the best men's costumes of the season.

From what I read she created both costumes for Olympic season, "Winter" and "Man in Iron Mask". I don't remember Yagudin skating to Rachmaninov.

I wonder why she often covered up her neck so often. Mao seems to like the choker look, but some of Shizuka's dress necklines were rather strange...

If anyone knows about her I would love to know if she is still making dresses. She was wonderful but old and had health problems. I was under the impression she had passed away; however, I could be totally wrong and apologize if that is not the case.

Okay, so I did a quick search and found that Carolyn-Ann Alba lists her as her costume designer on her bio, so she must still be making dresses. Good news!

I never liked the dresses that Kwan got from Vera Wang, either for the program or for the cut.

Agree that Meryl's this year is great. Mask is a wonderful touch to relate to the story of the operetta's masked ball.

Finnice, thank you for the name of Teemu Muurinmäki. I never knew who designs Kiiras costumes but always thought that she ist the skater with the best dresses. Outstanding, really.

She did Nicole Bobek's "Dr. Zhivago" blue dress from '95, right? My favorite dress ever.

Alissa's bio on icenetwork says that her SP costume was designed by Jef Billings. http://web.icenetwork.com/skaters/de...=100046&mode=I

I liked her costume in last year's SP too.

Someone upthread mentioned Gordeeva and Grinkov's 1994 costumes - was that Billings as well?

I agree 100%. Bring on the sparkles, spangles, and swirls! I also prefer sleeves to sleeveless dresses.

I know there are many of you who don't like this kind of "80s" look, but to me, I could always count on loving a Sheehan look.

This is a nice article about Sheehan, with photos of a few of her pieces.
    http://www.usfsa.org/Content/parents...umes_Nov99.pdf

Pretty much most costumes worn by Nicole Bobek, Jill Trenary, Debi Thomas, Kristi Yamaguchi, Tara Lipinski, Tonia Kwiatkowski, Sylvia Fontana, and Lisa Ervin were done by Sheehan. My favorites!
