So happy I got to see their FD in person! So gorgeous! I rewatched now on TV and got to see myself in the audience too. Happy D&W fan here that finally got to see them skate in person and it was worth the wait.

I like their FD, but it has so many old lifts from previous seasons. And I heard Waltz in it. But their SD looks like they can add a few more stuff in it to fill in the empty spaces, and what's up with Charlie? What is he doing ? Overall I like both programs, but I think they can do better. Can't wait~

I can just imagine how fantastic this FD is going to be by Worlds. LOVED IT! It's perfect for them and I love how wonderfully they carry the title "World Champs" every time they step on the ice. Just way above everyone else here, that's for sure.

i loved it, though almost 95% of the music selection is so g/g i could almost see g/g doing their elements to the music in this FD at some points. which brings me to a point someone in the v/m thread brought forth that d/w's program lacked iconic character. at this point (which is only the beginning of the season), the fd is one pretty, waltzy blur.

Wow, I can't believe skating season has already started. This thing came on NBC? Too bad I didn't know that--I could have taped it and then never watched it the way I usually do with skating broadcasts.

D&W's new FD is very strong--that's exactly what they need to defend their world title. I think they're going to be difficult to beat, even if V&M are at the top of their game. Is the SD available on YouTube anywhere? I heard it was so hot that smoke alarms went off all over the building. Wonder what they told the firefighters backstage?

I half wonder now if the Rugby World Cup 2011 ad that deprived us of the 2nd half of D/W's SD on icenetwork was a to get people to watch the NBC broadcast to watch D/W's SD in full.

Here's the link to the SD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycwva...layer_embedded

I really enjoyed the SD more than I thought I would. I've liked very few SDs this season but Meryl and Charlie's is great, even the JLo section. On first viewing, it didn't seem that Charlie was really getting the Latin flavor. But rewatching, focusing on him, he is doing more than I first saw. Meryl is just so into it! She shines and really draws the eye, which is nice to see. She has come so far over the years in terms of presentation. There is such confidence in her performances! Love it! And of course Charlie is great too!

Could be. But that's pretty sneaky of them to pull the rugby out from under the viewers like that.

Thanks, literaryfreak! I'd better take off my jacket before I watch this.

I checked back to the protocols and the documents to see which of the 3 key points on the rhumba in the SD Meryl & Charlie missed, and found that they, like every single other couple in the event, missed the 2nd key point in every rhumba sequence. That's the ladies' steps for steps 11 to 13, the wide stepping sections and the open & closed choctaws.

    Key Point 2
    Lady Steps 11 to 13 (Wd-LFI Wd-XF
    OpCho, RBO Wd-XB ClCho, LFI)

    1. Stepped at least two blade lengths wide on Steps #11, #12 and #13
    2. Correct Edges LFI (#11), RBO (#12) and LFI (#13)
    3. Correct placement of free foot
    4. Correct Turns

Meryl and Charlie were at the Friends of Figure Skating breakfast this morning, and they spoke along with the other athletes in attendance. I took a vid of them:

I love Judy Blumberg as a tech specialist - she is very strict with the levels even for the top skaters. Getting a level 4 step sequence under her is very difficult and something to be proud of. The fact that D/W had all Levels 4s from her except for the Rhumba and their step sequences bodes very, very well for the season.

I'm a bit worried with the crazy high scoring at SA, though. D/W did look phenomenal (they do look like mid-season form), but if they improve with each competition, then for the judges to score them better each time, they will end up actually maxing out the system by Worlds. I will have to remember to not be disappointed if their score stays around the same throughout the year, because 107 is pretty fabulous at any time. I once calculated what the max FD score was, I wish I could find it.

It would be nice to know what the highest possible FD score could be. But that would require doing math and I don't feel like it!!
