Heard that she can compete internationally starting in May so she will not be a factor at Four Continents or Worlds. Good for Mel. As talented as she is, and as fun as she is to watch, she was never going to be the leading U.S. lady. She won't have much competition in the Philippines, obviously, but I think she can make a good showing internationally at events like Four Continents. Only good can come for Mel and Philippines.

Oohh, this is fantastic!! I hope we see her at Four Continents and Worlds next year. Of course, Sochi is probably the ultimate goal.

So there WAS something to that deleted post then!

Funny, because many people here were saying she SHOULD represent the Philippines. Well, here you go...

The Philippines? Did Azerbaijan turn her down?

(j/k, good move, I think this will give her a lot of opportunities).

    for Melissa!

    She soooo deserves this opportunity.

She has too much talent to be stuck getting senior Bs.

Anyone know if she intends to compete until 2014? I'm sure we'll see her at at least one Worlds though, and good for her.

She does. She'll have to earn a spot for the Philippines either at 2013 Worlds or Nebelhorn in the fall of 2013. I'll miss seeing her at US Nationals, but good luck to her!

It'll depend on how many extra spots get taken up by countries like the US, Japan, Russia, Finland etc. And then how many countries don't use their earned spots due to stricter Olympic qualifying rules (like Israel last time when Chelsie Lee took Tamar Katz's place).

I think at Worlds they go up to 24 with six spots remaining for the fall qualifier? Correct me if I'm wrong, I've forgotten if they still allow 30 for the SP in the first place.

Congrats and best of luck to Melissa!!! So that's why she wasn't at Liberty I guess.
