I still haven't seen a single full episode of the Sherlock Holmes series he starred in, but I loved Brett's performances in An Ideal Husband, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Rebecca. I prefer his performance as Maxim de Winter to Olivier's.

Try to see the first series; the second (with a visibly older Holmes and another actor playing Watson) isn't so good. And sadly Brett's health problems are all too obvious. But in that first series, the astonishing voice, the razor-sharp face and his perfect portrayal are just
